Dear All Saints' Parents and Families,
Vacation Bible Sc ho ol begins Monday, June 10
We invite all rising 6th graders and up to be counselors ; send me an email ASAP to sign up with your t-shirt size. It’s a lot of fun and you can earn community service hours too.

I also request more adult volunteers to help either for the whole week or for a couple of days. Volunteer duties include buying snacks and delivering them, setting up snacks, helping with the Friday party, cleaning up the rooms, decorating rooms, and just about anything else you can think of – we need you! It takes a lot of person-power to pull off this great event each year, and we have an even bigger crowd this year than usual. Send me an email to let me know which days or tasks you'd like to help with.

Ministry Architects Update
We continue to move forward with the Ministry Architects. We met two weekends ago with our consultants and our Formation Team looked at all of the surveys you answered and the Ministry Architects Report. We will use those things to guide us as we look at our curriculum, programs, schedules, extra activities, milestone celebrations, and more. As soon as we finalize our plan, we will have a parent meeting to share it with you and ask you to help us accomplish this important work for our children and youth and for the good of our whole church. Thank you for coming to meetings, answering surveys and letting us know all of your wishes and ideas!
COMING UP
Saints and Service
Sunday, May 26, 11:15 a.m. in Ellis Hall
Join us this Sunday in Ellis Hall after the 10:00 a.m. worship service (summer schedule begins this Sunday!) as we gather to fill the fridges at Emmaus House and Midtown Assistance Center with ready-to-go sandwiches. You know the drill: glove up, build sandwiches, bag ‘em up, clean up. This time we are adding an extra make – we need lots of Peace Doves to decorate the church for Pentecost on Sunday, June 9. After you make sandwiches, head over to the dove table and make a few doves for us. Many hands make light work. And the hands can be big or small!
Dances for Peace:
A Service of Pentecost Dances and Songs
Sunday, June 9, 10:00 a.m. worship service, in the church
At this year’s Pentecost service, we will celebrate the birthday of the church with a multicultural, intergenerational celebration to give thanks for the beautiful diversity of the human family in all its forms. We will fuse movement with multicultural worship as refugee friends who participate in our Refugee Ministries program from East and Central Africa, the Middle East, Bhutan/Nepal, and Myanmar will join with All Saints' dancers to lead us in the dance and song.

*** We invite lots of kids*** to carry 30 poles with peace doves on them in our procession into the church. If your children want to participate, please be there at 9:45 a.m. to line up. We will process down the center aisle to the side aisles and wave our doves during the opening song. Then, we will exit to the back of the church (the narthex), drop off the poles, and join our families back in the church.

Following the service, we will enjoy our Annual Parish Picnic with an international flair. There will be craft tables to make Peace Flags, Pinwheels of Peace, and Tongues of Fire headbands. There will also be a fire dancer, a steel drum band, a visit from our local firetruck, firemen and firewomen (from 12:00-1:00 p.m. in the parking lot), and a few other surprises! The cost of lunch is $10 for adults and $5 for children, with a family maximum of $40. Register below.

Don’t forget to wear red (the color of Pentecost) and come share in the beauty and joy of the celebration!
Vacation Bible School
Monday, June 10 through Friday, June 14
You will receive a letter on June 3 about VBS with all the instructions for times, drop-offs, etc. We are getting super excited for the week which will have an African theme (ROAR - God is Good) to complement our Youth Pilgrimage to South Africa. If technology works, we will be in touch with them at some point during the week! As in past years, the kids will all get a CD of the music for the week, so let me know if you don't have a CD player; we will eventually move to an MP3 format, but the kids love having the CD. As in the past, each day will also have a service component for our Core Service Ministries here at All Saints' and for the Tutu Desk project - you can find out more about it here.

Moving Up Ceremony/ Sundae Sunday
Last Sunday, May 19, was the final day of Children’s Church and Children’s Formation for the program year. We had a Sundae Celebration in which the younger kids served ice cream to our 3rd and 5th graders that are Moving Up next year to Connect and to the Attic. Pre-Kindergartners will be celebrated in the fall as they move upstairs to join us for Kindergarten and Children's Church.

Each 3rd grader received a certificate, a Blessing Milestone, and some goodies to honor that they have learned 40 stories from the Bible and the Great Commandment, or as we say, "It's all about love!"

The 5th graders received a certificate, a Blessing Milestone, and a survival kit for their teen years with all kinds of goodies and symbols. They also received a prayer bracelet to help them start or strengthen their own daily prayer practice. The 6th graders tied the bracelets onto their wrists after we "Moved Up" to the Attic, to remind them that prayer is done in community too and to welcome them into their new community.

Symbols are an outward and visible sign of an inward and invisible grace. We want these symbols to be a powerful reminder to our kids that they are loved, celebrated, and needed in their church family. Please pray for these young saints as they continue to grow in their spiritual journey.
We have done a lot in this past month!  Here is the link to SmugMug to view photos from all the activities.
Peace be with you all,
Kathy Roberts
