Mission Project for VBS
This year's mission project for ROAR VBS will focus on a big need for the people of Africa: clean water. We will be working with ROCKBridge Ministries (the group our Medical Mission Team works with in Kenya) to help pay for wells. These wells not only provide clean water to their community, but Rockbridge Ministries will also be using a water truck to take that water to other places who desperately need it. I hope you will make plans to support this important project.

Sundays in the Summer
From Memorial Day to Labor Day this year, we will have a more casual atmosphere for worship. Our ministers will be dressing more casually, and some aspects of worship will be changing for the summer. We hope our summer schedule for June, July, and August provides you with a bit more flexibility:

8:30 AM Worship in the Chapel (40 minutes long)
9:15 AM- Sunday School
10:30 AM- Worship

The Sanctuary is getting a face lift! We look forward to seeing the culmination of all the hard work of the design team (made up of a cross section of the church as well as some church interior designers and the architect firm). For most of the month of June, we will be in the Sanctuary for 10:30 AM Worship. Beginning June 30th and going through the end of July, the 10:30 Worship Service will meet in the Gym.

SUNDAY FUNDAY This SUMMER
Since our Sunday worship will have a more casual atmosphere for Summer, we're going to have some fun with Sunday School! Have your children dress up in each Sunday's theme: if they participate 5 times, they'll win a special prize (that will be partially based on feedback from them!) Here are the themes:

June 16th- Sports Team Sunday
June 23rd- Church Shirt Sunday (wear our new church t-shirt or another shirt you've gotten from church (VBS shirts, BOW Day shirt, etc.)
June 30th- Neon Sunday
July 7th- Red, White, and Blue Sunday
July 14th- Hawaiian Sunday
July 21st- Pajama Sunday
July 28th- When I Grow Up Sunday

I hope your children will have a blast dressing up and coming to church!

Memory Verse Summer Challenge
With summer comes more free time and more time to learn verses! For the months of June and July, each new verse from our Memory Verse list that your child learns will count as two verses towards prizes!

Which means, your child only needs to learn 5 verses to get a prize from the treasure box, 10 verses to get 2 prizes from the Treasure box, 13 verses to get a Bruster's gift card, 15 verses to get a big bag of candy, 20 verses to get another big bag of candy, and 25 verses to get a pizza and ice cream party.

*The big ticket items: gift cards, the giant gummy bear, and being recognized in worship/receive a Bible will still require learning 60 verses and 70 verses (both gift cards), 75 verses (giant gummy bear), and 100 verses (recognition in worship and receiving a Bible).

Previous verses count towards your total, but only verses learned during the months of June and July and said to me (or sent to me in a video) count as double. There will be a different prize for children who participate and have already received the pizza and ice cream party.

Get your kids to start learning their verses! Verses can be found here

Wednesdays in the Fall
This Fall, our Mission Friends, GAs, and RAs will have a monthly mission project. Our goal is for them to both learn about missions and to have various ways for them to participate in doing missions. This will be a combination of collecting items, creating things, and other ways that we can do missions. I'm excited to add this component to our Wednesday night activities!

Wednesday Schedule in the Fall:
Dinner from 5 PM- 6:30
Tinkerbells (K-2nd Grade Handbells) from 5:45-6:30
Mission Activities: 6:30-7:30
Reading the Bible as a Family
Each week, we will have a spotlight on a different character/family in the Bible, along with some selected passages and what to talk about as a family. The goal of this is to give you and your family a way to read the Bible together.

Spotlight On:Deborah
After Joshua and the elders died, a generation came along that didn’t follow the Lord. So the Lord handed them over to their enemies, and every battle they fought in, they were defeated. But God also had compassion on His people and raised up judges who would lead them. Deborah was a prophetess.
