Vacation Bible School

VBS 2019: Don’t miss the excitement, fellowship, and learning!
This is an intergenerational event and fun for all ages. Enrollment happened quickly this year, so we have a wait list currently. However, we have plenty of room for volunteers.

Vacation Bible School is 9 am to Noon Monday-Thursday June 10-13

How can you help?
We need pop up tents to borrow for the week and shoe boxes (especially kid sizes).
Those can be dropped off at the church in room 207.
If you would like to volunteer your time at VBS, please sign up HERE.
If you'd like to contribute some baked goods for our volunteer hospitality suite, please sign up HERE.
For questions about volunteering, please contact Paige Hugg at paigehugg@gmail.com
Do you like drama? We need some actors too. Contact Jenny Alexander at jalexander@dcpc.org

Co-Directors: Megan May and Paige Hugg
VBS Committee Members: Rachelle Myers, Katie Parker, Amanda Wheeler,
Elizabeth Martin, Toni Rogers, and Holly Ridgway
VBS Sunday June 16

Join us to celebrate our week during worship. Participants and leaders should wear their VBS t-shirts. Come hear the songs and enjoy the energy.
Family Summer BINGO

Join this Children's Ministry game, and "win" in summer faith formation this summer.

Summer can be wild. Getting to church (at least in Davidson) may be less frequent due to travels and camps. Stay connected to
God and your church family by participating in this game! Click here for your own BINGO card to print, complete tasks, and declare BINGO! Familes are encouraged to hear Bible stories, memorize short scriptures, talk about faith, and reach out to others with fun activities. Post BINGO on our Facebook DCPC Parent Page to share and connect with others near and far this summer. DCPC, let's PLAY!

BINGO cards are also available in the church office.
Sunday School and Worship Schedules

A few people have asked about Sunday School this Summer- the enthusiasm is fantastic! We do have outstanding classes, teachers, and stories of faith that challenge and guide us in everyday life. We also lead busy lives and Summer interrupts many of our weekly routines. However, the gift of Summer for families is WORSHIP- together. With Sunday School overlapping our 9:45 am service, some children haven't had much opportunity to attend the service their parents enjoy routinely.

Worship is learned through experience. This summer, embrace the challenge of teaching your children how to worship! Yes, it's a challenge, but the lifelong benefits outweigh the struggle. Attend a couple of different services (and churches during your travels) and discuss with your children the unique styles of praise and prayer. Guide your child through worship with cues ("now is the time to tell God your 'sorry's' quietly). Start worship training as early as age 3 or 4. Preschool children can attend the beginning of worship then go to childcare during the sermon.

For more worship support and ideas/resources, feel free to contact Jenny Alexander or a pastor. We do recommend "A Children's Guide to Worship" which is given to our 1st Graders during Worship class in each Fall. Additional copies are available.
Children's Ministry Committee

A leadership opportunity
The Children’s Ministry Committee is starting a new year of service (and wonderful fellowship & prayer). All are welcome to join us! This subcommittee of Faith Formation seeks to nurture faith and develop relationships with Jesus Christ within the family of God. For more information, feel free to contact Jan Tevepaugh, our out-going Chair. We are grateful to Jan, Brian Kissel and Rebecca Kryshtalowych for their dedicated years of service on this committee. Best wishes as they move on to other ministries!
