Dear Families,
Thank you for blessing us with your children! Please read below about our December adventures and see what's coming up in 2026 in Children's Ministry!
| | As we neared year’s end, our children dove into Advent by engaging weekly with our Advent Wonder Bags and enjoying our Christmas event, Children of Light, both of which were themed after C.S. Lewis’ The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, which celebrated its 75th year of publication. | | |
Here's what else we did in December:
Our 3rd-5th graders led our PreK and K-2nd graders in Sacred Circle time every Sunday of Advent, gently guiding them through the whole story of Jesus’ birth to the visit of the Wise Men. The PreK also made woolly sheep ornaments during their story time.
| | Then, on Christmas Eve, the church was invited to participate in a special interactive 3 pm service, during which we paraded through the pews and welcomed the birth of Jesus with much ribbon-waving and candle-bearing. | | What a wonderful 2025 we had. THANK YOU for all the ways you bless our sweet community here at Christ Church United Methodist. May 2026 be filled with joy, love, and much laughter! | | The human body is fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139)! Created By God is a weekend retreat, February 20 - 22, 2026 for 5th–6th graders designed to help families have Christ-centered, honest conversations about the changes of adolescence—covering relationships, values, intimacy, and human sexuality from a Bible-based perspective. This impactful weekend is led by a team of Christian medical professionals and has long been one of our most well-attended events. Parents are required to attend an information meeting in order for their child to participate. Register here. | | Save the date! Our Family Ministry Easter Event, Race to the Tomb, is coming up on Saturday, March 28 from 12:30 - 2 pm. Details and registration to follow! | | Registration for VBS 2026, Rainforest Falls, will go live later this month! We can’t wait to adventure through the jungle while exploring the nature of God! We will need 50 adult volunteers to be able to host 250 students. From preparing snacks to leading a group to decorating classrooms, there’s something for everyone. VBS is June 15 -18, so save the date and we’ll see you there! | | 2025 - 2026 Child Information Form | | Attention all parents/families of children in Kindergarten through 5th grade: A new Child Information Form is now available. Even if you filled out this form last year, it needs to be updated for this year. If you have a child in PSALM Kids, please know that this is a separate form and must be completed independently. Click here to fill it out. Thank you! | | |
We Continue to Seek 10 am Volunteers!
We are still seeking four to six 10 am Faith Formation leaders in order to add another classroom to our rotation. Please prayerfully consider signing up to serve as a Children’s Ministry leader. Without 10 am leaders, there is no Children’s Ministry on Sunday mornings. From planting hydroponic gardens, to directing Bible story skits, to building a tower from magnatiles, to running around in the gym, to praying together, to eating together, to laughing together–every Sunday is one grand adventure with our incredible kids. Check out this form for more information and to sign up! If you are unable to serve this year, please reach out to a friend and invite them to consider this opportunity.
| | Coming Up This Month in Faith Formation | | |
Pre-K: During the month of January, we will explore the years that Jesus grew up before his ministry began. The children will love hearing that Jesus was once a child just like them!
K-5th: The K-2nd graders will primarily be studying the story of Daniel, while the 3rd-5th graders will be diving into questions around the topic of ‘what really matters’ in life, such as ‘Is being the best what matters’?
| | January - February Key Verse Memorization | | |
Every two months, our K-5th graders will be invited to memorize a new Scripture verse which ties into their Faith Formation study for the month. This verse can be recited at any time to one of our Faith Formation leaders for a chance to pull a prize from our treasure chest!
2 Corinthians 5:17
(NRSV)
So if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation: everything old has passed away; see, everything has become new!
