March 5, 2019
Happy Tuesday!
It may be snowy up north today, but before you know it, we'll be splashing into summer!

Laura and I have been working hard combining VBS and Missions Week into two VERY COOL weeks of Missions Blast! and we can't wait to get it all started! See below for our new format (new days and times to help you swim team families) but still the same valuable content: lots of missions projects and crazy singing, outings just for fun and Bible stories, games and worship and growing in our faith. Sign ups for Missions Blast weeks and Camp Prism begin March 11.

But before we get to summer, we have lots of other fun things to do that will help our kids get closer to God and each other, too!
Be sure to check out below info on this Sunday's swimming fun at the Kroc Center (SIGN UPS END TOMORROW), as well as a list of projects for kids on InAsMuch Day.

Wishing you a happy, sunny March!
See you at church!
Love, Becky

Ash Wednesday Service Tomorrow is for Families
Don't forget, there are no missions or choir classes tomorrow night so that your family can attend our Ash Wednesday service at 6:15 in the sanctuary. You won't want to miss Bobby Jo Valentine's singing, his story, and the imposition of ashes!

When kids ask why ministers impose ashes on people's foreheads, saying, "Remember that you are dust and to dust you shall return," I like to explain that this is what God says to Adam in Genesis. God reminds Adam that God made him, and that he (and all people) depend on God.
When we wear a cross of ashes on our foreheads, we show the world that we are turning back to God.

I'll be one of those imposing ashes tomorrow. I hope to see you then!

A Guide for Your Child Through Lent
Available Tomorrow at Ash Wednesday Service
I've found a wonderful day by day guide through Lent for your child, and I think your family will enjoy it!

For each day of Lent, from Ash Wednesday through Easter, there is a 1 or 2 paragraph story and an easy activity or puzzle. It's published by a Catholic press, which explains a couple references to Pope Francis. It's so very well done.

I'll place them outside the sanctuary on Ash Wednesday. If you're unable to make it to the service, no problem. You may pick them up on the table at the entrance of the Children's Hall. Be sure to get one for each of your children. :)

Fifth Grade Night Was So Fun! What's Ahead?
We had such a great night with our terrific team of fifth graders! Besides the jumping at SkyZone and the pizza and ice cream at my house, we talked about some new things coming up for fifth graders. You may have already noticed one of them: we're offering the option of sitting together during worship down front. It's already working out great, and giving the kids a taste of what's to come at the end of the summer with youth!
But I'm not giving them over to youth until then!

Don't forget the special lunch in their honor that's coming up May 5, from 11:30-1, for fifth graders and their families. They'll get a gift from the church and hear some nice words about each of them, because we love them so!
Your Traveling Buddy Is Ready !
Would your child enjoy a lunch date with her/his minister to children?

I've had such a great time lately visiting schools for lunch, seeing games and a play! If this is something your child would like, I'd be happy to find a time when I can visit! It's a great way for me to get to know them better.

Just email me here and I'll get out my calendar!
