This Sunday in Crossroads Kids

Mary and Elizabeth (Luke 1:39-66)
The last two weeks, we have heard the stories of the two birth announcements that begin the Gospel of Luke. Bring your children to church this Sunday to discover how the two stories merged when Mary went to visit Elizabeth.

Please ask your children about the songs we are singing, what they learned, and engage with them at home by using the weekly
52 Ways Kids Like to Receive a Blessing

Each week we will share a way kids like to receive a blessing. This is taken from the Crossroads Family Blessing handout.

Promises are important for my family. We try our best to honor them.

SAFETY FIRST
Last weekend we started to use "wristbands" for the safety of our children. When you drop your child/children off on Sunday morning, please take a number to give to the teacher (one tag/number per child).

Write the tag number/numbers on your wristband and wear the band please.
At pick up time, please make sure you are wearing the band. We will match the number/numbers from your wristband to the tag you gave to the teacher. If you are not wearing a wristband, you will not be allowed in the Crossroads Kids area.

This new measure is to ensure all children are signed in and picked up by a parent or guardian. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. The safety of our children is our top priority.

Christmas Angels

Our Crossroads Kids made angels to hang on their family's Christmas Tree.

This angel is a reminder of how God will send others to be our angels in life. Do not forget that we can also be angels to others.

Advent Wreath Candle Lighting

To celebrate the four Sundays of Advent we will have a brief candle lighting experience and reading for you and friends or family to celebrate at home.  Use this with a store-bought or handmade Advent Calendar of your choosing.

Here is the Advent Candle reading for 12-16-18:

Reader 1: Today we light the third candle of our Advent Wreath. This candle represents the word LOVE. We take our inspiration from the third verse of the beloved Christmas Carol Silent Night.
Silent Night, Holy Night Son of God, Love's pure light. Radiant beams from Thy holy face. With the dawn of redeeming grace. Jesus, Lord at Thy birth. Jesus, Lord at thy birth.

Light the candle.

Reader 2: Just as the light from this candle shines out into this room, the light of God's love shines out of every person. May we recognize the light of God's love in the welcoming heart of a trusted friend, a family member, and even in the stranger we meet.

Reader 1: Jesus said that we are the light of the world, just as he was the light of the world. May we truly be that light for each other during this season and all throughout the year.

The Advent Storybook

Add The Advent Storybook to your family holiday traditions and enjoy the rich images and thoughtful retellings of ancient stories that feature God's recurring, faithful promise to rescue us.

A simple question at the end of each story helps readers engage in understanding the bigger story God wants us all to know-the good news of Jesus coming to save us. Parents and children alike will delight in the biblical messages of joy, hope, and peace every day as they look forward to celebrating Jesus' birth.
