The Children's Theater Company is proud to announce 14 years of community-building and producing ethical musical theater with young people as the voices of positive change.

This 14th year marks another important milestone, as our Founder and Artistic Director, Mehr Mansuri, introduced Baby Soraya, her best production ever and youngest cast member who joined the Fall 2013 season.

To make this challenging year, as a new mother, go as smoothly as possible, Mehr surrounded herself with an unprecedented 17 dedicated production and artistic staff , who with tireless determination and un-ending creativity delivered six new musicals this year. The production staff include Melina Salifoski, a CTC alumni, who accompanied Mehr shoulder to shoulder on this journey as Production Manager (and as Soraya's first best friend); Karen Blaine (Chapter Coordinator); Regina Prittler (Parent Coordinator); Alma Vidal (Facility Manager); Joel Hawkins & Donovan Mason (Set Designer for Providence & Kunka Bunka); Prof. Susan Soetart (Costume Designer) and Aaron Garcia (Stage Manager), each who were instrumental in ensuring the grueling behind the scenes operation and who intimately understood the sacrifices necessary to make this community development model come to life.

Our musical productions were equally led by passion, vision and resourcefulness. CTC Long Island was led by six incredible Teaching Artists, led by Broadway performer, Kevin Munhall, Las Vegas theater director, Casey Burke, our new Co-Artistic Director for Valley Stream, Catherine Del Castillo; NYU Theater Education Grad, Alexis Gedallovich and drama therapist theater director, Yessenia Trump and finally Betsy Lun Pun who choreographed the hip hop dance numbers for all age groups. We are now thrilled to introduce two new choreographers and Associate Directors for our New York City Chapter. With over 15 years of theater education and performance experience, Danielle Colangelo and Cherish Duke joined our long time Co-Artistic Director, Jill Bolstridge for our Spring and Summer Season Spectacular producing the Russian style musical Kunka Bunka and the Rotten Royal Rascals loaded with tons of physical comedy and stunts galore.

We hope you can catch our final performances for our current season (see play descriptions below) and if you have a moment to CLICK 'Network for Good', please consider making a contribution before our fiscal year is over on June 30th.

We thank you for your joy, support and contributions.

Kunka Bunka: An original musical in rap with rousing Russian-style music and dance --this is the story of the land of Kunka Bunka which is ruled by a kind and benevolent King, who is consumed with worry as he discovers that none of his rotten royal rascal children are suited to govern the land. There are the three Princess sisters, Proudeska, Jealousina and Chatterina and their Prince brothers, Rudekov, Slackoff, and Coughkof - the sickly one, with the glum disposition. To discover which child might be best as royal heir, the King asks each of his children to wear the magical 'see-through spectacles' that allows them to see 'inside themselves'. As none of the rotten royal rascals are fit to fill royal shoes, the despondent King banishes his children from the palace assigned to work as common citizens, until they have learned the secret to happiness.

Providence: Told in the voice of Roger Williams' young daughter, Mary, who witnesses  her father defending the rights of Native Americans to freedom of conscience and is accused of treason and sentenced to a hanging. With a heart throbbing court room drama accompanied by dramatic vocal and music score this true story will have young viewers gripped to the very end.

Horton the Elephant: Horton, A faithful elephant stumbles upon Mazy the lazy bird who cons him to watch her egg while she goes on vacation. Horton endures every alamity and climate and proves his faithfulness and never once strayed from his promise to Mazy or the egg. During this time, Mazy is still enjoying the sun until she see's Horton and the egg hatching. In the final scene Mazy pursues the egg but in the twist of events a judge has to decide who the real parent is, Horton or Mazy.

Yertle the Tyrant Turtle: A ferocious dictator decides that he needed to rule more and so he commands the other turtles to climb back-on-back to build him a throne, higher and higher, "For I am the ruler of all that I see!" A little turtle named Mack is the first brick of his throne, pleading with his majesty to let the turtles free.
