Children's Ministries Weekly News
The Good and the Bad
Life can be scary and unpredictable and sometimes it seems like the odds are stacked against us. Imagine how the Israelites felt when they stepped into the Red Sea, a wall of water on each side.

On Sunday, K-5th graders explored the idea of God being with us, especially when things feel scary. A video clip of Disney's Prince of Egypt offered powerful visual representation of what it might have been like for God's people as they trusted Moses to bring them through the Red Sea and closer to the Promised Land.
Preschool Sunday School
Godly rules, like the Ten Commandments, were a gift from God to help us live in community and harmony with one another and with God.  On Sunday, our preschoolers learned about Moses and the Ten Commandments. They also learned how Jesus simplified God's rules by teaching us to love God, and to love our neighbor as we love ourselves.

God knows that we're not perfect and that we'll make mistakes. But God's desire is for us to love - to love God, to love our neighbors, and to love ourselves.
Mark Your Calendar - Trunk or Treat October 31
Children's and Youth Ministries are excited to bring First Pres and community kids together for a Halloween Trunk or Treat event. Trunk or Treat will be held on Saturday, October 31 from 2:00-4:00 pm.

Wear your costumes and masks and join us in the west parking lot (off Vail Avenue) for a sweet and spooky good time! Please RSVP by emailing Katy Allen or calling the church office at 847-255-5900. Allergy-friendly candy options will be available. Physical distancing will be practiced, with limited numbers of kids allowed at each car trunk at a time. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Outdoor Worship Sundays at 10:00 am
Please join us outdoor morning worship.

We will meet in the west parking lot at 10:00 am (weather permitting). This is a wonderful opportunity to worship and share fellowship together while still adhering to safety protocols.

Families are encouraged to attend. The service is casual and family friendly. Please bring your own chair if you can, and remember that masks are required.
Make a Difference @ Home
If your family has been searching for a way to make an impact in our community while staying safe and maintaining a physical distance, you might consider the following giving options.

You may drop your donations off on Sunday mornings when you come for outdoor worship or Monday-Thursday between 9:00 am-3:00 pm just outside Door 9 (by the main office). A no-contact drop off can be coordinated by contacting Zoe McGrath. All donations must be received by October 23.

The Wheeling Township Food Pantry has been a lifeline for many in our community who have needed food, particularly during these past few months. Consider adding a few *most needed* items to your weekly shopping trip and deliver them to the food pantry, located at 1616 N. Arlington Heights Road. Donations are accepted Monday-Friday, 9:00 am - 4:00 pm. (Most needed October items include canned carrots, pasta sauce, peas, ravioli, tomatoes (diced or stewed).

The Kenneth Young Center will be holding a holiday Adopt a Family gift card collection. Monetary donations or donations of $25 gift cards from Target, Walmart, or Jewel would be greatly appreciated. Please contact Jessica at Kenneth Young Center or click here for more information.
