Children's Ministries Weekly News
From My Home to Yours
Dear First Pres Families,

These are hard times that in some ways just seem to be getting harder. I am so sad for our kids who have had their school year upended. I'm sad that they won't get to say goodbye to their teachers and friends. That they won't get to celebrate the successful completion of another school year. That end of year parties and picnics have been cancelled. That all the experiences they were looking forward to, all the traditions and rhythms that school provides, have been taken from them.

I also know these days are hard for you. Balancing parenting and teaching and working and entertaining and enforcing all at the same time is more than any of us signed up for. To add to that, we're also managing our own anxieties while trying to reassure our children. I hope that in the midst of all these difficulties, you are able to find some time to devote to yourself and your needs. If, at any time, you or someone in your family is in need of pastoral care, please don't hesitate to reach out to any of our pastors. They are available if and when you need them.

Be Part of the Worship Slideshow
If you have tuned in to our online worship services, you may have noticed the slideshows that have been running during what would normally be the offering time. The pictures are a reminder that we continue to be a church family, even though we are apart right now. They highlight great memories of things we have done together and ways in which we have ministered to the world.

Alex and I would like to invite kids to be a part of a future slideshow by sending in a picture of something they have drawn or created or built during our "stay at home" time. If your child(ren) would like to participate, please email Katy Allen your picture by the end of the day next Wednesday (April 29). Please send the picture in the  highest resolution you can.

Thanks for helping to keep our congregation connected!
An Update on Sunday School
Due to the official announcement last week that Illinois schools would be closed for the remainder of the academic year, TC and I are very sad to announce that Sunday school for all ages will not return this program year. We will continue to provide Sunday school lessons for the whole family through May 10 (which would have been our final day of Sunday school).

We have not yet made a decision about Summer Sunday school for preschoolers - 5 th graders. As many of you know, our summer program is centered around our Loaves & Fishes garden; time will tell if we are able to plant and tend the garden together this summer.
Family Sunday School
Watch your email on Sunday morning for another family Sunday school lesson.

TC and I hope that these family-focused lessons are giving you an opportunity to spend some time together, talking about and sharing your faith journey with one another.
Vacation Bible School and MissionFactory
We are remaining optimistic that we will be able to offer Vacation Bible School and MissionFactory as planned this summer. In that optimistic spirit, we will continue accepting online registrations for both programs.
Please visit  to sign up!

Vacation Bible School is open to 4 year old preschoolers - 4th graders. There are separate sign ups for the preschool and elementary programs.

MissionFactory is open to incoming 5th and 6th graders.

The cost for VBS and MissionFactory is $25/child. The programs are scheduled to run July 6-10, from 8:45 am - noon each day.
