Hello Dear Reader:
What’s the latest? The best, more press! Who do I have to thank? Otra vez, a la italiana magnífica Marcia Gagliardi of tablehopper.com. Marcia coordinated an interview by Liam Mayclem at Chile Lindo Kitchen Culture, to feature me on his show, The Foodie Chap, aired on KCBS Radio.
Witnessing Marcia and Liam taste and comment on la cocina chilena was exhilarating. They loved Chile Lindo's empanadas, chupe de camarón, and torta de merengue. Amidst tastings and anecdotes, The Foodie Chap podcast captured the lively and overlapping chatter between la italiana, el irlandés (with a British accent) and moi. These moments inspire and fuel the spirit to keep going in this tough biz. Again, thank you Liam and Marcia.
The hospitality industry plays a vital role in maintaining the vibrancy of a cosmopolitan city. Join the tablehopper.com newsletter to stay in the know. Last month, tablehopper.com turned 18! Congratulations for staying the course (jajaja). By the way, Marcia is orchestrating a unique San Francisco affair: A Bohemian Sunday at the Savoy-Tivoli: a renewal party from tablehopper. Save the date: Sunday, April 14th, 4pm-7pm. It's gonna be epic.
With a heavy heart, I must draw attention to the fact that February was a distressing month in Chile. The regions of Viña del Mar and its neighboring areas were significantly impacted by fires. It was distressing to witness. The death toll reached to 132 and a staggering 15,000 residences were destroyed, resulting in thousands of individuals being displaced. President Gabriel Boric declared this as the most severe human catastrophe since the destructive 8.8-magnitude earthquake of 2010. February is high season for summer destinations in Chile and the pinnacle of the tourist season in Viña del Mar. As most of my readers know, Viña del Mar is Sausalito’s sister city. Mayor Ian Patrick Sobieski of Sausalito sent a letter to Mayor Macarena Ripamonti of Viña del Mar. Thank you Mayor Sobieski. The letter, along with a link for donations, will be included in this newsletter.
Feliz 8M. Happy International Women's Day!
Saludos,
Paula Tejeda

SF’s Longtime Chile Lindo Has Relocated Across the Street as Chile Lindo Kitchen Culture
"It’s a cozy spot, with red metal café tables, plus a wine bar that’s actually the marble counter that was at Lucca Ravioli Co. (here I am behind it in this SFGATE article from 2007!). Tejeda has Lucca’s oven as well—Michael Feno, Lucca’s former owner, wanted these things to stay in the neighborhood."

A Letter from the Mayor of Sausalito on behalf of the People of Sausalito
Dear Mayor and People of Vina Del Mar—
It is with a heavy heart that we here in Sausalito have been following the unfolding disaster in our sister City of Vina Del Mar. Please know that all of Sausalito feels a profound kinship with you and your people at this difficult time. As you know, we too live in an area vulnerable to fire and it has been a constant threat and fear to us.
Neighboring communities to Sausalito have suffered from devastating fires and many of our residents have had friends and loved ones affected in the recent past.
From a personal visit I made to Vina Del Mar in 2007 I know how much the topography of the surrounding area is similar to Sausalito. And so the photographs of the fire, and the fire’s devastation, seem profoundly personal and relatable to me.
We know that this in an unfolding situation, but if there is any way we in Sausalito can help in this time of need, pease let us know.
In solidarity and with sincerity,
Ian

ENTRE VISTAS is a collaborative project involving two Chilean sisters and me. Ximena Diez-Jackson is a resident of Sacramento, while Paulina Diez lives in Santiago. Ximena has been a customer of mine for many years, and whenever she calls to place an order, our conversations often extend for an hour. I communicated my intention to produce videos capturing the diverse events I take part in and the fascinating people I encounter. During the pandemic, Ximena and her sister Paulina, who is a video editor, embarked on a project of producing videos that narrate children's books. One thing led to another, and we have undertaken this new venture, ENTRE VISTAS, when our busy schedules permit.
John Legaspi, a producer and the founder of the San Francisco Association of Performing Artists, contacted me to help find a jazz ensemble for the American Association of Orthopedic Surgeons' (AAOS) annual conference. The reason for this search was that Chile was the Guest Nation for the AAOS event. They specifically requested a jazz ensemble that had a connection to Chile. This was an ideal choice as my sister, who is of Chilean descent, is a jazz singer. Hence, I engaged the Alexandra Rieloff Trio.
This occasion marked the inauguration of our first ENTRE VISTAS on both Instagram and YouTube. I apologize to my English-speaking audience as the content is in Spanish.
