The snow and cold are the official notice from Mother Nature that winter has arrived. How about some delicious soup for dinner? Just heat and serve. Our chowders and chili are hearty enough to be the main course. Just add some crusty bread!

GIVE THANKS WITH SEAFOOD!

This year we'll be giving thanks that 2022 is almost over. It's been a tough three years for everyone.

We know that most of you have turkey for dinner on Thanksgiving, but here are some wonderful appetizer ideas to keep everyone happy. (Several of you are having stuffed salmon fillets instead of turkey - a turkey thanks you). We also have some delicious heat-and-eat side dishes that go wonderfully with your bird and some wonderful pies, tarts and ice cream for dessert:


APPETIZERS

Burhop's famous shrimp, cooked in small batches with our own secret blend of spices. Serve with our wonderful cocktail sauce, by the bottle or in bulk.

Cold smoked from Ducktrap Farms, great on buttered toast points, hot smoked custom done for us here in Chicago, delicious on a cracker.

Stone Crab Claws

The season has begun! These are the one seafood item which you can eat knowing the crab wasn't killed, and it's busy growing a new claw. Serve as an appetizer or a first course with our Stone Ground Mustard Sauce.

FIRST COURSE

Of course, we will have our Key Lime Pies and Tarts, including pumpkin, and a limited supply or full sized pumpkin pies - call to place and order - as well as our Door County Cherry Tarts - just the right size for people about to explode from eating. And our wonderful locally produced Homer's Ice Cream.

Requirements include an interest in gourmet food, particularly fish (fishermen/fisherwomen welcome), knowledge of cooking or a willingness to learn. A great, fun, educational place to work if you're interested in seafood, gourmet cooking, and gaining knowledge about running a small business. Much better place to work than a fast food restaurant, where you work at night and breathe in grease. 

Also possibilities for additional income from our catering events. Successful short training period culminates in pay increase. Will generally need to work one weekend day, no evening work except during December holidays. Generous holiday bonuses. Bilingual staff, Spanish and English. Burgers:

We will have fresh salmon burgers, WBW burgers, and possibly some fresh tuna burgers, easy to grill and great on a bun. 

Fish for Grilling:

The types of fish that are best for grilling are the thicker, meatier fish, such as halibut, tuna, marlin, swordfish, salmon, mahi mahi, sea bass, plus shrimp and scallops - ask us for suggestions. Fish cooks quickly, so less time standing in front of the grill!

Sides:

Rice Pilaf, Wild Rice with Dried Cherries, Pasta Salad, Calico Couscous, Herb Roasted Potatoes, Roasted Potato Wedges, Potato Salad, Broccoli Salad & more - selection varies daily.

   In late June we catered a fun event for a family in Wilmette - a combined 40th and 5th birthday party, father and son. Another father and son duo, Burhop's Chef Jaime and his son Jonny, cooked up kebabs, lobster tails, sweet corn and more for a happy crowd of many ages. According to the hostess: 
"An AMAZING feast thanks to you, John and Jamie. The food was amazing and the chefs could not have been nicer. Everyone was raving and we certainly let them know who to call!  Thank you again, you have very satisfied customers." 
   Recently we did an oyster bar for a party in Hinsdale, and a lobster tail birthday party in Kenilworth. 
And in early October, we did a socially distanced wedding reception with individual lobster boil dinners.
