Christmas at First Church

The early Christmas Eve service featured the telling of the Birth of Jesus by our many wonderful youth actors and actresses! Lots energy and activity to get this production prepared and presented!! Thanks to all who helped to make this service and experience possible!

The late Christmas Eve service offered a reflective time of carols, prayer and communion. Thank you to all the readers and participants in this most precious service.

Thanks to the volunteers (pictured below: Jim Scofield, Bruce Hamiliton, and Jeff Mayer) for constructing the crèche on the front lawn and the Flower Team for the beautiful poinsettias adoring the sanctuary.

Godspeed, Jim Burrell

Jim Burrell is moving to South Dennis on Cape Cod in January. He has been an active member of First Church, and most notably in the weekly Prayer Group. Please join in wishing Jim a smooth transition and best wishes for new adventures on The Cape!

The Christmas Offering

First Church helps to furnish an apartment for a Haitian family coming out of shelter!

First Church has been nurturing a relationship with the Everett Haitian Community Center (EHCC) for the past number of years.

In November, First Church partnered with EHCC to provide Thanksgiving turkeys for more than 30 families.

On Christmas Eve, there was a flurry of activity during which a number of furniture donations were collected.

They included upholstered furniture, a beautiful Christmas tree with lights, a bed, mattress, box spring and sheets, as well as a TV and TV stand, some collected from church members and others through

Swampscott Free For All.

On Christmas Eve,

Rev. Myrlande DesRosiers of the EHCC came with 3 men and a U-Haul,

loaded up everything and delivered these items to the family

(a mom, a dad and a young child)

who now reside in Fall River, MA after residing in shelter for the past year!

Thanks be to God!
