Fourth Sunday in Lent
Rose Sunday
|
|
It was a surpassing joy to celebrate the upcoming birth of our child this past Sunday with you. Chris and I thank you for your abundant generosity in helping us prepare our home for this little one. Thank you especially to the Daughters of the King, Jenn Rennekamp, Parish Life, and Gretchen Hood for preparing food, decorating, and organizing the shower. Once he’s born, you can be sure you’ll hear from me from time to time how the family’s doing, and I’ll be back by the end of June. I should have one or two more Sundays with you before he’s born, so I look forward to these last couple weeks!
This Sunday we wear PINK! It is Refreshment Sunday, a rose colored Sunday in Lent designed to give us space to breathe in the midst of our fast. Each Sunday in Lent is a mini feast, but this Sunday in particular is meant to be a time of refreshment. As such, we will have our Ministry Fair immediately following the 10am services with a refreshment theme. Come prepared to indulge in all the things you might have given up for Lent, and learn about what each of our ministries is doing and how you can get involved.
Tonight, join us for our second Koinonia Dinner where we can learn the value of community and get to know the people who sit beside us in worship each Sunday. The last one was a ton of fun, so come and fellowship with us tonight at 6:00pm.
Next Wednesday, join us for dinner and a concert with the Matsiko World Orphan Choir, featuring children from Liberia who come to share their talents. If you are interested in hosting a couple of the children and a chaperone, please email us here.
As we approach Holy Week, it is time to think about Easter Lilies, Palm Sunday Passion readers, and volunteers to sit vigil over the night of Maundy Thursday. If you are interested in participating in Holy Week in any of these ways, please sign up below.
We also continue our search for a weekend sexton. If you know anyone looking for part-time weekend work, please encourage them to apply.
It is also time to look forward to VBS! Please fill out the volunteer survey HERE if you would like to help with VBS this summer, July 17-21. We have plenty of positions to fill, both interacting with the kids or doing more behind the scenes work before or during VBS.
This week, I am preaching 8am and 10am in the Church, and Bob+ will be in the Gathering and Sundays@5. See you soon!
