Day of Pentecost - Whitsunday

8 June 2025

Congratulations to Rev. Jean on the occasion of her son Tucker’s wedding. She returned to ODEC from San Diego, with a new title of Mother in Law to Tucker’s lovely wife, Bianca. As we continue to figure out the best use of her part time hours, you may see Rev. Jean leave various meetings and events a bit early from time to time.

We are pleased to announce the beginning of regular monthly Eucharistic Services at Atlantic Shores beginning June 11th at 2:00pm.

In the meantime this is shaping up to be a busy week. The ODEC Vestry Commissions meet tonight beginning at 6pm with supper. Please join us as we have a lot going on during this time of transition.

Our Healing Eucharist continues on Thursday mornings at 10:00am. Join us as we pray for much needed healing in the world and also offer individual prayers for the healing of our bodies our minds and spirit.

THIS Sunday, 8 June is Pentecost with our combined worship at 10:30 in the Eden Chapel, followed by our ODEC traditional picnic - bring your best side! Wear RED!

Historic Traditions

THIS Saturday, 7 June 9:30am in Canterbury.

Day of Pentecost

This Sunday! On Pentecost we read the Gospel simultaneously in many different languages. Which foreign language can you read aloud? Click on your desired language below. This is one of the highlights of our church year - not to be missed! Please be part of this special tradition for our services.

We will wear RED as the color of the day. It symbolizes the FIRE in the tongues that appeared over the heads of the disciples and the blood of the martyrs of the Church. Like that first day of Pentecost, we will hear the gospel proclaimed in as many languages as are represented in our congregation, so that all will understand. If you can read aloud in any foreign language, there are links below where you can find it translated for you to read. We all read together so you are not solo. If you read well or poorly, join us anyway because we are all reading in unison and you will only be part of the din!
