Sunday of the Passion: Palm Sunday

Weekly Chimes

Hello Old Donation!
This is our last week of relative calm before the storm of Holy Week hits. I love storms - when there's no imminent danger! They are invigorating and awe-some, and take you out of the day-to-day and into something greater than you. When a storm hits, I stop what I'm doing and listen, watch, revel in the experience.
That is what we do in Holy Week. Next week, starting on Monday the 15th, we will have services every evening at 7:00pm. Monday and Tuesday Fr. Fred and I will take you through an exploration of the cross, how to understand it, and how to see it in new and transforming ways. We'll give more details on the rest in Chimes next week, and the schedule is out on the website and will be coming in email as well, but the important thing to remember is 7pm services April 15-20.
But before that happens!
Tonight is our final program in our Wednesday night series on "Telling Our Stories." We'll hear from one of our own, Holly Waide, as she recounts her life-changing mission work in Belize. You'll also have an opportunity to start thinking about how to identify and share your own stories. Holy Eucharist is at 6, supper (by Congregational Care) at 6:30, and program starts at 7:00.
There is plenty going on the rest of the week as well! Crew and another bible study meet on Thursday evening, JOY dinner group on Friday, Feed My Sheep will cook on Saturday, and feeding on Sunday. And then, Sunday evening, we will be having our first Men's Night Out in years! Men, head over to the Parish Hall at 6:15 on Sunday to have some dinner and fellowship,  with our own Admiral Gene Black, who will recount his recent naval expedition with the Truman. This is an opportunity you don't want to miss, as Gene will be leaving our parish soon to work for us in the Pentagon.
Sunday is Palm Sunday! I will be preaching in the Historic Church and Bob will be in the Gathering. As is our tradition, we will have palms at all services and will gather beneath the portico at the start of the 10:30 services for a reading and prayers, before processing to our different service places. It's going to be a wonderful Sunday, and I can't wait to see you all there.
In Christ,

Big News!

BIG NEWS! For Palm Sunday, (after years of trying), we will have a live donkey and horse for the procession! Palm Sunday always begins with reading of the gospel account of Jesus' entrance into Jerusalem... and includes his direction to his disciples to get a colt or a donkey for him. (In Matthew's gospel Jesus rides a colt AND a donkey.) Thanks to great help from Marti Jones, we will a mini-horse and a donkey.  Weather will determine exactly where we line up for the procession. The animals will be part of the children's sermon as well. You won't want to miss this Sunday!  Bob+
