Second Sunday in Lent

Weekly Chimes

Happy LENT, my friends,
The sun is shining and the ice cream is stored safely away from my access. I am now a week into trying to live a life of deeper discipline. LENT MADNESS has been a fun tool for some daily distraction which becomes learning. Good worship and renewed routines are a help to fix my soul.
Tonight we are jumping into a new study series for our Wednesdays in LENT. I am kicking off our "Telling our Stories" study with Eucharist at 6:00; soups and salad at 6:30; and teaching / discussion from 7-8:00. Please join us. I promise tonight will be enjoyable and worth your time as we think about faith, story-telling, evangelism, and the Gospel. Plus Outreach will have 2 or 3 soup choices so there is something to satisfy all of us. Next Wednesday is Dr. David Gortner from Virginia Seminary so come do the prep work.
Thursday evening Jenna Crumley is at St. Mary's Home for disabled children talking to us about the important work that we can be part of. Friday we have Bill Dullaghan's funeral at 2:00pm. JOY dinner is that evening. Some of us are headed tomorrow to do prison ministry. Others are leaving on the weekend for a medical mission trip to Belize. Will Minnich is attending a high school spiritual retreat. Please keep all these people and ministries in your prayers.
Sunday I am preaching in the Church at 8, 10:30 and 5:00. Ashley is in the Gathering.
Monday night we host the founders of "Breaking Bread Journeys" at 7:15pm in the Parish Hall. Christina and Elise will present their unique model for Holy Land pilgrimage. I've had some of you ask if we might organize another Holy Land pilgrimage soon. If you want to know about their model, join us (RSVP, please). We will try to gauge how much real interest exists. It is open to anyone - especially to folks from other churches who might be thinking about pilgrimage possibilities.
LENT won't slow down with opportunities. I hope you have the one day retreat on your calendar for Saturday, March 23 and the Day School Art Auction for March 22.
See you soon... Peace and all blessings in this holy season,

Bishop Search

The Diocesan Profile is now live and you can access it from the Diocesan website. Please:

1. Look over the profile and see how much of what we learned from the questionnaire responses and the listening sessions is reflected in it;
2. Please send emails out to people you know who you feel can help to spread the word. Include the diocesan website address in the email so that they have access to the profile. The Nominating/Search committee is sending notices out to as wide a range of places as possible but we hope that you will assist us in "spreading the word".
Thank your your prayers and support for this process.
~Pam Pringle, Chair, Nominating/Search Committee
