Twenty-Second Sunday after Pentecost

Weekly Chimes

"I sing a song of the saints of God" was at the top of the charts last Sunday. Saints were on our minds and hearts last Sunday. Our list of those who have died and those who were baptized in the past year was long. It was a blessing to present Charles Jay to join in the saint making process through baptism.
It was also Ingathering for 2020 Stewardship pledges for the operating funds. We had a wonderful offering with 100 pledges for $345K. I give thanks to God for this bountiful start with a little less than half the pledges we expect. If you haven't yet made a pledge of your estimated giving, please pray and make one out this week. It is so helpful to your own spiritual life and to the vestry as we plan next year's mission and ministry. (And eat some M&Ms for a sugar rush of inspiration!)
Veterans' Day observance at Old Donation is this Sunday. We will have special prayers and music. Some of our members who have served or are active in military service wear their uniforms to church for an annual picture after the 10:30 services. We give thanks for those who have served this nation and remember the freedoms and rights that are a resultant gift.
EYC is heading to Norfolk after the 10:30 services to assist with feeding the hungry with "Feed my sheep". It is good to give back to God's work through service to our communities.
I will be teaching in the adult class about St. Paul and the Holy Spirit. Kipper continues her class on "Episcopal 101." Joe Tucker will lead a discussion of saints in the Music Room. Lots of options! Fred Poteet+ will be preaching at 8 and 10:30, and I am in the Gathering and for Paws, Prayers & Praise.
Monday the office is closed for the holiday. Monday night at 7:00pm at Pleasure House Brewing I will convene our next "THIRST" session of Pub Theology. I'm buying the first round of excellent craft beers while we talk theology. Each session is fun and thought-provoking. Join us!
