Old Donation Episcopal Church

Twenty First Sunday after Pentecost

Weekly Chimes

Hello Old Donation!
Has anyone joined the parade to get tattoos this week? After each service, I had people tell me that my sermon pushed them over to "YES" ... (listen here if you missed it). That wasn't really the purpose, but maybe ODEC can get a frequent user discount? It was a perfect day for our annual "Blessing of the Animals."
This week the Six Sundays of CELEBRATION continues. Bishop Hollerith will join us for the Rector's Forum in Tucker Hall from 9:15-10:15 and will confirm and receive at 10:30 in the church. We have a strong class of youth and adults. After 3 years of preparation, our J2A class is well ready to join our other faithful adults in all their responsibilities and authorities in the leadership of the Church. Other adults and youth are stepping up with them. It will be a great day for Old Donation Church. An expanded coffee hour reception will follow in Tucker Hall. We will also be saying thank-you to Bishop Hollerith for his ministry and oversight, since he is retiring as our bishop at year-end.
I will be preaching at 8:00, the Gathering, and Sundays@5. The Gathering Band will have a day off to celebrate with bandmates who are being confirmed at 10:30 in the Church. I have assembled an impromptu group who will lead the music in the Gathering this one Sunday.
Tonight Ashley will be teaching and leading discussion in our Wednesday night series, "Formed by Love." Join us for Eucharist, dinner (Foons Chinese), and discussion.
Saturday at 1:00PM we will give thanks for the life of Flossie Chandler, one of the saints of this Church. Following the memorial service we will have a reception in the Parish Hall. She will be buried in Arlington Cemetery at some later date.
Keep the faith!
