Hello! What's new?

En fait pas grand chose de nouveau depuis la dernière lettre. En décembre 2024, j’étais dans l’état de Oaxaca dans le sud du Mexique pour les fêtes. Au printemps, je passerai 2 mois à Paris avec une petite visite à Aix pour rendre visite à mon amie Marick avec qui j’organise le voyage bilingue: Discover the Charm of La Provence. 

Nous avons encore des disponibilités pour ce voyage. C’est un voyage linguistique et culturel de 7 jours (13-19 octobre 2025), basé à Aix-en-Provence. Ce voyage en petit groupe (10 personnes) vous offrira une opportunité unique de vous immerger dans la culture et la langue française dans une atmosphère décontractée et conviviale. En plus des visites touristiques, vous participerez à divers programmes où vous rencontrerez et bavarderez en français avec des habitants de la région. En même temps, vous développerez vos connaissances sur la gastronomie, l'art, l'histoire et les traditions provençales. Si vous êtes curieux, écrivez-moi et je vous enverrai l’itinéraire et les détails. Pour des raisons d’organisation, nous aimerions avoir une réponse avant le 31 mars. Merci

In fact, not much is new since my last newsletter. In December 2024, I was in the state of Oaxaca in the South of Mexico for the holidays. In the spring, I'll be heading to Paris for 2 months with a short visit to Aix-en-Provence to visit Marick, the friend I am planning the bilingual tour: Discover the Charm of La Provence.

We still have some availabilities for this tour. This is a 7-day linguistic and cultural tour, based in Aix-en-Provence (October 13-19, 2025). This small group tour (10 people) offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the French language and culture in a relaxed and convivial atmosphere. In addition to sightseeing, you will participate in various events with locals and have an opportunity to practice your “français" while gaining insights into the gastronomy, tradition, art, and history of Provence. If you are curious, please contact me and I’ll send you the itinerary and the details. For organizational purposes, we would like to hear from you before March 31st. Thanks.

Le saviez-vous? Jeudi 20 mars 2025 est la Journée internationale de la Francophonie. 

La Journée internationale de la francophonie est une célébration mondiale d'une journée organisée par l’Organisation internationale de la francophonie (OIF). Elle a lieu le 20 mars de chaque année.

Cet événement a été créé en 1988 comme un moyen pour les 93 pays membres de l’OIF de célébrer leur lien commun — la langue française — aussi bien que leur diversité. Cette journée consacrée à la langue française qui unit 320 millions de locuteurs, est l’occasion pour les francophones du monde entier de fêter leur solidarité et leur désir de vivre ensemble, dans leurs différences et leur diversité, partageant ainsi les valeurs de la francophonie. Quelques chiffres publiés par l’OIF

• 321 Millions de francophones dans le monde dont 255 millions de locuteurs quotidiens.
• 5e langue mondiale par le nombre de ses locuteurs
• La langue française est la seule, avec l’anglais, à être présente sur les 5 continents.
• C’est la 2eme langue apprise après l’anglais.

Did you know? Thursday March 20, 2025 is the International Day of Francophonie.

International Day of Francophonie is a world celebration organized by the Organisation internationale de la francophonie (OIF). It takes place every year on March 20th.

This event was created in 1988 as a way for the 93 member countries of the OIF to celebrate their common heritage - the French language - but also their diversity. This special day, dedicated to the French language spoken by 320 million people, is the opportunity for francophones in the entire world to celebrate their solidarity and their desire to interact together despite their differences and diversities, while sharing the value of their francophone heritage. There will be many events worldwide. Check their website.

Some statistics published by OIF

• 321 Million French speakers in the world including 255 million daily speakers.
• 5th world language by number of speakers
• The French language is the only one, with English, to be present on 5 continents.
• It is the 2nd language learned after English.

Tuition: $40/per class or $70 for 2

This class provides an opportunity to activate your passive knowledge of French syntax and vocabulary and to help you communicate more precisely and confidently. In a supportive and structured setting, you will be encouraged to express your opinion, share your experiences and perspectives about a vast array of topics on society & culture, gastronomy as it relates to France & other francophone countries. I will select a different theme for each class. We will also review grammar and pronunciation when necessary and highlight special vocabulary.

Sujet: La Résurrection de Notre Dame de Paris

Depuis l’incendie en 2019, de nombreux débats et défis au sujet de sa restauration se posent. Nous parlerons des changements proposés et ceux en cours mais aussi de l’histoire de ses diverses restaurations et changements à travers les siècles.

Perfect for those who do not want to have an online Zoom class but would rather work on their own on their writing skills. I will send an article to read, sometimes combined with an audio and ask you to write an essay or a creative piece based on the documents sent. You will receive constructive feedbacks and corrections as well as follow up grammar handouts and study materials based on your needs. We will communicate via email.
