“Driving through the streets of Columbus while feeling exhausted and petrified, the sight of Wexner Medical Center fell into my eyes. The stories from under my pen had finally come true. At that exact moment, I knew the one year of longing and waiting was all worth it. It felt like a dream being able to step on the gentle grass of the Oval after five long, exhausting flights. The bold shade of scarlet and the vast Oval had a familiar yet unknown feeling.”

On September 11, the Shanghai Alumni Club hosted their first game watch event this year and cheered on the Ohio State Buckeyes against the Oregon Ducks. Although the Buckeyes lost their home-opener, the 30 alumni in attendance still enjoyed watching the game together. The Shanghai Alumni Club also engaged in a active recruitment process in September and will hold its first meeting in October.

Chengdu Alumni Club Established in October 2021
Congratulations, Chengdu Alumni Club! The Chengdu Alumni Club is officially chartered under the Ohio State Alumni Association, and a launching ceremony was held on Saturday, October 16. The event was held at a tea house in Chengdu with around 30 attendees. This is a very diverse and dynamic community that young alumni are from all industries, including real estate, manufacturing, banking, risk investment, construction and others.

American Universities’ China Association Joint Events
American University China Association (AUCA) organized a series of virtual and in-person recruitment events in September to support the undergraduate student recruitment efforts. Phoebe You, senior director of the China Gateway and Jacob Chang, president of the Ohio State Undergraduate Student Government, joined a panel discussion. The China Gateway also delivered a virtual information session about Ohio State undergraduate admissions.

China Career Events Continue in Fall |

As one of the hosting universities, the China Gateway joined other top American universities at American Universities’ China Association to organize a series of virtual and in-person events during summer, to support students learning about industry development trends and career opportunities in China. Following those events, multiple employer talk sessions took place virtually in August and September.

China Gateway Featured in International Education Graduate Seminar |

|
Phoebe You, senior director of the China Gateway, gave a virtual tour of the Shanghai office to a hybrid graduate seminar taught by associate professor Tatiana Suspitsyna in the College of Education and Human Ecology on September 28. The seminar is focused on internationalizing colleges and universities. For this course, students studied material on international branch campuses and the Gateway office, watched You's virtual office tour and participated in an in-class activity led by PhD candidate Ruth Lu.
