Feb 14 - The Chincoteatgue National Wildlife Refuge will close to all access at 12:00 p.m. This includes access to the Oversand Vehicle Zone. The backup date for the rocket launch is Saturday, February 15th at 3:25 pm. If the launch is moved to the 15th, the refuge will close to all access at 11:30 am that day. The refuge will reopen to normal operating hours immediately following the launch.

Feb 23 - 3:00 p.m.  "Harriet" at the Island Theatre.  Sponsored by the Chincoteague Island Arts Organization i n recognition of Black History Month. This special, one-time showing is free to the public.   "Harriet" tells the story of Harriet Tubman, American abolitionist, suffragette and social activist who is known for freeing herself and over 70 others through repeated treacherous journeys using the legendary Underground Railroad. Doors open at 2:30 p.m.

**Notice** The Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge is working with Ducks Unlimited to replace aging culverts.  Temporary closures in place until the end of February .  No cars permitted on the Wildlife Loop Trail at this time, but you can still hike or bike to the left of the entrance and around Swan Cove Trail.  Visitors will have to turn around to exit the Wildlife Loop.  Black Duck Trail will be closed at Beach Road.  There may be temporary closures on the Service Road during this time.  Thank you for your patience and please stay safe.

Feb 17 - 20THE LIBRARY WILL BE CLOSED .   The entire Eastern Shore Public Library system is updating and improving the computer system, switching from Evergreen to Atrium. The change involves transferring all the computer information to the new system. Training of staff will take place during this time.  The Library is scheduled to reopen on Friday, February 21 at 10:00 AM. While we are sorry for the necessary inconvenience, we believe that the patrons will find the Atrium system more user-friendly.
