On June 27, the Chinese Chamber Past President Eddie Flores led a special Chinatown Walking Tour for Chamber members, offering participants a unique opportunity to experience the history, culture, and stories that have shaped Honolulu's Chinatown.
Throughout the tour, Eddie shared his personal experiences growing up in Chinatown and reflected on how the neighborhood influenced his life and entrepreneurial journey. His firsthand stories provided participants with a deeper appreciation of Chinatown's rich heritage and the close-knit community that has supported generations of local families and businesses.
The group also visited several long-established Chinatown businesses, including Cindy's Lei & Flower Shoppe, recognized as the first lei shop in Chinatown. Along the way, participants learned about the history of these iconic businesses and their important contributions to preserving the neighborhood's unique character and cultural identity.
The walking tour is part of the Chamber's ongoing efforts to promote Honolulu's Chinatown as a vibrant cultural and historic destination. It also helps build excitement and community momentum for the upcoming Chinatown Arch Project, which will further celebrate Chinatown's heritage and strengthen its identity as one of Hawaii's most treasured historic districts.
