The Chinese Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii, in joint partnership with the United Chinese Society (UCS), was deeply honored to co-host a high-profile government delegation from Guangdong Province, China, during their official visit to Honolulu from June 8 to June 9, 2026.
Led by Vice Governor Mme. ZHANG Guozhi, the distinguished delegation included several top-ranking provincial officials:
-
Mr. MA Wenfeng – Director General of the Foreign Affairs Office
-
Mr. ZHANG Jinsong – Director General of the Department of Commerce
-
Mme. ZHAO Hong – Deputy Director General of the Department of Culture and Tourism
Throughout the visit, leaders from both the Chinese Chamber and the United Chinese Society accompanied the delegation, serving as community liaisons to facilitate impactful cross-border dialogue.
A major highlight of the itinerary was a highly productive meeting with Honolulu Mayor Rick Blangiardi. The discussion yielded excellent momentum, with both sides expressing a strong mutual interest in developing collaborative initiatives across business, education, culture, and other key strategic sectors.
Following the mayoral meeting, the Chamber and UCS co-hosted a Welcome Reception at Jade Dynasty Seafood Restaurant. The evening brought together local society presidents, business leaders, to celebrate our shared heritage and explore new avenues for economic and cultural exchange.
Before concluding their departure on June 9th, the delegation met with representatives from the Department of Business, Economic Development & Tourism (DBEDT) office to establish concrete frameworks for future trade, sustainable tourism, and commercial partnerships.
This high-level visit marks a significant milestone in our ongoing mission to promote business development, preserve Chinese culture, and ensure Hawaii's prominent leaders play an active role in shaping the economic future of the Asia-Pacific region.
