Chinese Chamber Foundation Seminar Series: Natural Hazard and Emergency Preparedness

The Chinese Chamber and Chinese Chamber Foundation, invites members and the public to attend an important seminar on Natural Hazard and Emergency Preparedness.

 

Date: Wednesday, May 28, 2026

Time: 12:00 p.m.

Format: In-person at Chinese Chamber office (includes lunch bento) and via Zoom

 

With Hawaii experiencing over $1 billion in damages from recent winter storms, this seminar will focus on how to better prepare homes and families for natural hazards, including hurricanes, floods, wildfires, tsunamis, earthquakes, volcanoes, and climate change impacts.

 

Participants will gain practical insights on home improvement strategies and insurance options to reduce risks ahead of an active hurricane season.

 

Featured Speaker: Dennis Hwang

Faculty member, University of Hawaiʻi Sea Grant College Program (NOAA) and lead author of the Homeowner’s Handbook to Prepare for Natural Hazards. He also serves on the Governor’s Green Fee Advisory Council and is a past president of the Chinese Chamber.

Valet parking is available in the shared lot (Kapiolani Blvd & Kalauokalani Way) Additional paid parking can be found at 1830 Kapiolani Blvd and at 24 Hour Fitness (1680 Kapiolani Blvd). Limited street parking is also available in the surrounding area.
