As I begin this new chapter as President of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii, I do so with a profound sense of gratitude and humility. Looking back over the past 20 years, I could never have imagined that what began as a simple desire to give back to the community and become more connected to my Chinese heritage would lead to the privilege of serving this distinguished organization.
Throughout my journey, I have been inspired by the many past presidents, officers, directors, mentors, and volunteers whose dedication and leadership have built the strong foundation of our Chamber. It is an honor to continue their legacy.
Over the years, I have had the privilege of serving the Chamber in many capacities—as a committee chair, director, vice president, and now president. Each role has strengthened my appreciation for the importance of preserving our traditions while navigating through changes and embracing new opportunities to serve our members and community.
I recently returned from leading a delegation of more than 50 chamber members and friends, including our Narcissus Queen and Court, on our successful Narcissus Goodwill Tour to the Silk Road in China. Since its inception in the 1970s, the Goodwill Tour has strengthened the bonds of friendship and cultural understanding between Hawaii and China, reminding us that our greatest strength is our ability to bring people together.
As President, I remain committed to preserving our rich Chinese heritage while strengthening the Commerce in the Chinese Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii. My priorities include expanding business membership, fostering collaboration, partnering with other ethnic chambers and business organizations, and developing mentorship opportunities for future leaders.
I look forward to working alongside our executive officers, Board of Directors, young professionals, committee chairs, and members as we advance the Chamber’s mission together. I encourage every member to become actively involved. Your ideas, talents, and volunteerism are what make our Chamber strong.
As we begin this exciting new chapter, please join us for our Chinatown Cleanup on August 22, our General Membership Meeting on September 30, and our Annual Golf Tournament on October 22 at Hoakalei Golf Course.
