With the Lord's grace and Swami Dheerananda's blessings, we are pleased to announce Chinmaya Somnath Bala Vihar and General Session Registration for the academic year 2023–24 are now open. The Bala Vihar classes and sessions will start in September 2023.

The entire family benefits from the wisdom of Vedanta and practical means of spiritual growth and happiness. Our enthusiastic, young, and dynamic teachers make learning blissful and guide us to apply the knowledge to our daily lives. Please note that the attendance of at least one parent is required for your child(ren) to be in Bala Vihar Class. It is also our policy to ensure the safety and security of your child(ren).

Register today to secure your spot, which will also benefit your weekend schedule! We have limited capacity for each class or session, and we will close registrations for the class or session when it reaches its maximum capacity.

Important to know before registering

Chinmaya Somnath will offer three (3) in-person Bala Vihar sessions for the 2023-24 academic year. Additionally, families may take advantage of the online sessions that are conducted for the Washington DC metro area by CMWRC.

Registration is also open for Shishu Vihar (Children ages below 3 years old) and Amruta Vihar (*), a class for differently abled children.

The assembly and prayer for adults and Bala Vihar children will be in the auditorium for in-person sessions.

At Chinmaya Somnath, the N. VA chapter of CMWRC, we offer three in-person sessions.

Friday in-person session starts September 8th at 6:45 p.m.
Sunday morning in-person sessions start September 10th at 9:15 a.m.
Sunday afternoon in-person session: starts September 10th at 12:15 p.m.

One online session across CMWRC via Zoom.

Sunday online session: starts September 10th at 1:30 p.m.

Shloka class timings:

In-person: Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 11:50 a.m.
Online: Sundays from 3:10 p.m. to 4:10 p.m.

Language Class Timings:

Please review the language classes' timings by visiting the website page. This year, we will continue to offer them as online sessions.

Art, Performing Art, and Yoga Classes:

In-person: Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 11:50 a.m.

Toastmaster Club and Youth Leadership Program (YLP)

Please invite your friends and extended family members to register for the Bala Vihar and general sessions by taking advantage of:

Referral Program: A registered family can refer a new family to Chinmaya Somnath (CMWRC). When the new family registers for the Bala Vihar Program/General Session, the referring family and the referred family both receive a $100 incentive (in the form of a check). There is no limit to the number of families a current member can refer to, which is an instrument for spreading Gurudev's vision throughout the community. Arpanam Pledge: Bala Vihar and General Session sign-up for children in your family are key benefits offered as part of your Arpanam pledge along with a few other benefits (check the website for details). The Arpanam pledge made during the registration process allows you and your family to commit to the long-term support of Chinmaya Mission while at the same time benefiting from the multiple immediate benefits offered by the program. Those who are not interested in the Arpanam pledge at this time can continue to register by pledging only for membership and Bala Vihar as deemed appropriate.

Donation Matching Program: If your employer offers a matching contribution program, you may review the details and take advantage of it to match the Annual Pledge, Bala Vihar program, or Arpanam sign-up.

We encourage you to review ‘Seva’ options while registering to support the Chinmaya Somnath operations team. Your ‘Seva’ will immensely help the operations team to organize the program and events.

We will close registrations for a class/session when it reaches its maximum capacity.

Few tips before you register

New to the registration system? When registering, please be sure to review the registration instructions carefully.
Common login: You need to use the same login from past years' Chinmaya Bala Vihar or other program registrations such as Geeta Chanting or Summer Camp.
First-Time Registration: If you are signing up for the first time, please be sure to choose Chinmaya Somnath as your primary chapter.

After your registration is complete by making the payment, you will receive a system-generated acknowledgment email. Please note that children’s classes and session assignments will begin in early to mid-July.
