Choir Tour Daily Updates #2

Courtenay to Port McNeill

Today, we left Courtenay (after a second round of water sliding) and made our way to Elk Falls for a visit to the supension bridge...

...and a picnic lunch!

...the rain, which had politely held off for our picnic, bucketed down on us for the rest of the journey to Port McNeill. Luckily, we were cosy in our coach!

Chaperone Philippa worked on a knitting project while 'Lieutenant' Dan swerved around deer.

The wonderful parishioners of St John Gualbert Port McNeill provided supper and warm hospitality...

Deborah Murray, our incredible host, presented each chorister with a print by local artist Gordon Henschel.

We encourage you to click here to read Deborah's amazing story - her personal motto “the way you do anything is the way you do everything” was certainly in evidence tonight!

Deborah also asked our singers to sign a Henschel print to hang in the church as a memory of our visit.

To thank Deborah and team, we gave an informal rendition of Tallis' If Ye Love Me in the lovely, resonant sanctuary of St John Gualbert...

If Ye Love Me - Port McNeill

They had a beautiful 100-year-old grand piano - here is Mr. McDonald teaching Kellan to play the same Tallis anthem.

The evening ended with a karaoke session for our tired, happy choristers and youth choir singers.

Tomorrow we're heading to Sointula for a pop-up concert preceeding our concert at the Gate House Theatre.
