Dear Cholla Residents,
The above photo was taken at the ribbon cutting this week for Glendale Police Department's new Evidence and Storage facility.
This is a state of the art facility for storing and processing evidence and is critical infrastructure for law enforcement.
I remain committed to making sure our police officers have every tool they need, and will continue to push for the addition of a full forensics lab on this site. Stay tuned for more on that during budget discussions.
ADOT HAS PROVIDED THE FOLLOWING LOOP 101 PROJECT ONE YEAR PROGRESS REPORT
This month marks one year since construction began on the Loop 101 (Agua Fria Freeway) widening project between 75th Avenue and Interstate 17. The project will add one general-purpose lane in each direction and modify existing interchanges to improve traffic flow.
Significant progress has been made on the project this past year, which is on track for an on-time completion in spring 2027.
We would like to share with you an update on construction progress, as well as upcoming work in the project area.
Progress to Date
Construction activities in the last year have focused on building the new general purpose lanes and widening bridges and ramps in several locations to accommodate the new lanes. Progress to date includes:
- Bridge widening work at 51st, 35th and 31st avenues, including new drilled shaft foundations, abutments, girders and bridge decks. (See photo below.)
- Frontage road work, including new pavement and curb and gutter.
- Installation of drainage improvements throughout the project corridor.

- Eastbound on-ramp at 59th Avenue
- Installation of new LED lighting and light shields throughout the project corridor.
- Completion of new retaining walls and sound walls along east- and westbound Loop 101 between 35th and 27th avenues.
- Installation of fiber for freeway management systems technology at several interchanges.
- Pavement repair work on the eastbound Loop 101 to north- and southbound I-17 ramps.
