Dear Cholla Residents,

The month of July is Parks and Recreation month in Glendale. As your representative on the City Council, improving and maintaining our local parks is one of my top priorities. Our parks give us opportunities to enjoy open spaces and recreation in our growing metro area with families and neighbors.

Below, I have included a two question survey asking for your opinion on park funding and which local park is your favorite. I am looking forward to seeing your answers.

Important Update

Thunderbird Conservation Park Project Update

I am pleased to share that the City of Glendale is moving forward on the pavement maintenance Fund Balance project at Thunderbird Conservation Park (TCP) on July 14 and July 21. The work includes sealing all large cracks and/or crevasses as well as applying a slurry seal on the main road and parking lots off 59^th Avenue.

As a result, the park entrance off 59^th Avenue will be closed on July 14 and again on July 21. The other two trailheads at TCP will remain open and an electronic sign board will be placed on 59^th Avenue. Below is the map identifying the area of the work (both red and purple) to be completed.

Pinnacle Peak Road, east of 67^th Avenue – Slurry Seal application is currently taking place.
Streets between Grovers Avenue and Union Hills Drive, between 55^th Avenue and 59^th Avenue – Slurry Seal application to begin July 15.

Gila River Arena Job Fair

July 15 & 16 | 1-7PM

Gila River Arena, home of the Arizona Coyotes will hold a job fair for over 200 part-time event staff positions on July 15 & 16 from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. in Glendale. Gila River Arena is currently hiring for the following part-time positions to work Coyotes home games, concerts and other special events: event security, guest service representative, conversions crewmember, event parking attendant, ice crew member, part time engineer, and box office ticket seller.

Attendees should bring their resume & valid I-9 Documentation.
