Summer is right around the corner and our Parks and Recreation staff have been hard at work preparing for a variety of summer activities for both children and adults as well as the summer swim season.

The Summer 2025 Glendale at Play magazine is now available.

Tuesdays through Saturdays from 1 PM – 5 PMClosed on Sundays and Mondays for maintenance

Loop 101 widening project from 75th Avenue to I-17

Reminder: Eastbound Loop 101 (Agua Fria Freeway) ramps to I-17 scheduled to be closed overnight May 9

Long-term ramp and eastbound Loop 101 closures next week (May 13-19)

The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to plan for the following closures and restrictions as part of the Loop 101 widening project between 75th Avenue and Interstate 17. 



OVERNIGHT CLOSURES MAY 13-14

  • The following will be closed from 10 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, to 5 a.m. Wednesday, May 14:
  • The westbound frontage road (Beardsley Road) will be closed between 35th and 51st avenues
  • The westbound Loop 101 off-ramp at 51st Avenue 


WEEKEND LOOP 101 CLOSURE (MAY 16-19)

  • Eastbound Loop 101 will be CLOSED between 59th Avenue and I-17 from 10 p.m. Friday, May 16, to 5 a.m. Monday, May 19.
  • DETOUR: Drivers may use Union Hills Drive or Bell Road as alternate routes
  • The eastbound Loop 101 on-ramps at Union Hills Drive, 75th and 67th avenues also will be closed.
  • The westbound Loop 101 HOV lane between I-17 and 59th Avenue also will be closed during this time.

This information was shared with the public last week.

Starting May 20

  • The westbound Loop 101 off-ramp at 51st Avenue will be closed beginning 10 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, for approximately 60 days
  • DETOUR: Drivers may consider using the westbound Loop 101 off-ramp at 59th Avenue, then travel south to eastbound Union Hills Drive to reach 51st Avenue.
  • The eastbound Loop 101 on-ramp at 59th Avenue will be closed beginning 10 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, for approximately 60 days.
  • DETOUR: Drivers may consider using eastbound Union Hills Drive to 51st Avenue to access eastbound Loop 101.

NOTE: The May 27 long-term ramp closure HAS CHANGED. It will not be the 51st Avenue eastbound off-ramp, as publicized in last week’s alert. We will let you know as soon as the next ramp closure is finalized.



Glendale Pavement Management Activity


The Pavement Management Program here is COMPLETE for the current Fiscal Year. City staff is currently and actively pursuing commitments and schedules from our contractors to address the remaining miles in the Cholla District for the next fiscal year.
