Recently, the Arizona Department of Water Resources (ADWR) and Central Arizona Project (CAP), publicized a joint message regarding the anticipated conditions on the Colorado River system and probable shortage declaration. Glendale's Water Services Department is closely monitoring the situation. The anticipated Colorado River shortage will not have an immediate impact on the City of Glendale. A water shortage on the Colorado River does not mean a water shortage at Glendale taps. We have a diverse and robust water portfolio that includes Colorado River surface water, Salt River Project surface water, reclaimed water and groundwater. Colorado River water represents approximately 45% of our collective supply. Considering Arizona’s priority system, the City’s Colorado River supply will not be reduced in 2022. We have known for many years our Colorado River supplies could be cut and we have been preparing for this shortage for decades and will continue to do so. This includes investment in our infrastructure, water supplies, underground water storage and conservation programs. Click here to read Glendale's most recent water quality report. Streets between Bell Road and Union Hills Drive, between 51st Avenue and 55th Avenue – Latex Modified Surface Seal (LMSS) application is currently taking place. Streets between Grovers Avenue and Union Hills Drive, between 55th Avenue and 59th Avenue – Slurry Seal application to begin mid-May. Streets between Union Hills Drive and Beardsley Road, between 59th Avenue and 67th Avenue - Latex Modified Surface Seal (LMSS) application to begin late May. 79th Avenue, Bell Road to Union Hills Drive – Thin Mill and Overlay to take place late Spring 2021. Behrend Drive, east of 59th Avenue – Slurry Seal application to take place Spring 2021. 64th Drive, Union Hills Drive to Sack Drive – Slurry Seal application to take place Spring 2021. Sack Drive, 64th Drive to 67th Avenue – Slurry Seal application to take place Spring 2021.
