Dear Cholla Residents,
The Point-in-Time (PIT) Count is a count of sheltered and unsheltered people experiencing homelessness on a single night in January. HUD requires that all city's conduct an annual count of people experiencing homelessness who are sheltered in emergency shelter, transitional housing, and Safe Havens on a single night. City's must also must conduct a count of unsheltered people experiencing homelessness every other year (odd numbered years). Each count is planned, coordinated, and carried out by local officials and volunteers.
The 2025 Point-In-Time count was conducted on January, 28 and the city recently received the results. This year's PIT count found 169 persons experiencing homelessness in our city. This is a 22% decrease from 2024, which is good news. While the count revealed a decrease in the number of homeless in our community, we continue to face challenges in addressing this issue. The PIT interviews provide critical insight that will guide the city's strategic investments, funding decisions, and program development.

The City of Glendale website has a page dedicated to homeless services that includes a link to report an encampment. Reporting an encampment allows our police officers and community services staff the opportunity to connect with homeless individuals and offer services to assist them in getting off the street.
