Cholla District Pavement Management & Construction Updates

Streets between Union Hills Drive and Beardsley Road, between 59th Avenue and 67th Avenue - Latex Modified Surface Seal (LMSS) application is currently taking place.

Grovers Avenue, between 51st Avenue and 55th Avenue – Latex Modified Surface Seal (LMSS) application to be completed June 5.

79th Avenue, Bell Road to Union Hills Drive – Thin Mill and Overlay is currently taking place, followed by adjusting utilities and striping to take place the week of June 7.

Behrend Drive, east of 59th Avenue – Slurry Seal application to take place during night time hours June 11.

64th Drive, Union Hills Drive to Sack Drive – Slurry Seal application to take place June 21 – 22.

Sack Drive, 64th Drive to 67th Avenue – Slurry Seal application to take place June 21 – 22.

Parkside Lane, 67th Avenue to 61st Drive – Slurry Seal application to take place June 28 – 29.

Thunderbird Conservation Park Improvements
The City of Glendale has approved $170K in improvements to Thunderbird Conservation Park (TCP) trails. The trail improvements will be designed to be sustainable and will include: the Arrowhead Point trail, Sunrise trail (not including the access road from the south side), the Coach Whip connection from the 59th Avenue trailhead to the pedestrian bridge and from the bridge to the 55th Avenue trailhead, the Coach Whip connection from the 55th Avenue trailhead to the Arrowhead Point trail, and the Chuckwalla connection from the 67th Avenue trailhead to Sunrise trail. Thunderbird Conservation Park has an additional $1M allocated in the Capital Improvement Plan for improvements in fiscal year 2022 and $4M programmed in fiscal year 2023. WHO: anyone at least 15 years old can apply for lifeguard; swim instructor applicants must be at least 16 years old
WHAT: the city of Glendale is looking to fill temporary aquatics lifeguard and swim instructor positions
WHERE: Glendale’s two aquatics centers are located at 5600 W. Union Hills Dr. (Foothills) and 5003 W. Marlette Ave. (Rose Lane)
WHEN: Potential employees must be available during the entire aquatics season starting in early May 2021 through early September 2021. Some pools may remain open during evening hours and on weekends through Labor Day weekend. Click here for more details.
