Dear Cholla Residents,
After weeks of infighting and two failed budget packages, the House adopted the bipartisan Senate-Hobbs deal with minimal changes late last Thursday night on a 40-16 vote. The Senate followed suit Friday with final passage by a 21-8 vote, sending the budget to the governor's desk and Governor Hobbs signed the budget Friday evening, concluding one of the most contentious budget cycles in recent memory.
I am happy to report that HB2858 was included in the final budget adoption. HB2858 will appropriate funds to expedite improvements from 75th Ave north of the Loop 101 to Deer Valley Rd. Pairing this work with the Loop 101 widening project will benefit residents of Glendale as well as neighboring municipalities. Expediting the 75th Ave improvement project timeline will eliminate the need for a second disruption to drivers at a later date.
Thank you to those of you who reached out to ask for support from our legislators and emphasized the importance of HB2858.
Your voice matters!
In addition, I have requested but not yet received a report on the outcome of several bills that would preempt local control. Seven from the House and three from the Senate. I will provide this information to you once I receive it.
Please note:
