New LPNs ready to enter NH's healthcare workforce

The New Hampshire nursing community got a boost it needed as thirty-seven new Licensed Practical Nursing students completed their program and graduated from River Valley Community College. While the new graduates will need to pass the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) before they can begin working as LPNs, most have already been offered employment in the region.

NHTI–Concord’s Community College receives grant to support paramedic program

NHTI has received approximately half of the funding needed to upgrade equipment in its Paramedic Emergency Medicine program. Bangor Savings Bank Foundation has generously donated $5,500 toward the goal of $11,000 to purchase new equipment used in prehospital emergencies. With over 500 graduates of the Paramedic Emergency Medicine program, it is nearly impossible to walk into a municipal fire or EMS department, local hospital, or walk-in clinic in New Hampshire and not find an NHTI-trained paramedic at work.

LRCC awarded $48,000 to enhance automotive technology program with electric vehicle technology

Lakes Region Community College was awarded $48,073 through the Industry Recognized Credentials Grant Competition from the NH Department of Education to further support skills development in its Automotive Technology program. Students will gain new hands-on learning opportunities in electric vehicle technology. LRCC joins Nashua Community College and White Mountains Community College in proving training opportunities in this growing field.

From fast food to coding mentor: NCC boot camp grad shares her story

Jolene had been looking for an opportunity to get into coding, but many local programs come with a hefty price tag. “I was always waiting for an opportunity where I could get into programming, but all the other boot camps were extremely expensive, and I was extremely poor. Then COVID hit. And I had this opportunity to apply with COVID funding.” Once she started, she was all in. “I was working in McDonald’s and doing the Coding Boot Camp, and overachieving in all the projects because it was my one and only chance – so I did it, and I loved it.”

LRCC celebrates hospitality program expansion

Lakes Region Community College proudly unveiled its newly completed hospitality programs expansion, a project that was four years in the making.

Prior to 2020, the culinary and pastry arts, and hotel and restaurant management programs were offered at an off-campus location. In Fall 2018, after a structural issue made it impossible for the programs to return to their location at Canterbury Shaker Village, efforts began in earnest to permanently move all hospitality programs to campus. A grant from the Northern Borders Regional Commission, as well as multiple matching donations from local community partners, made the renovations possible.
