Via Crucis
a devotion for Passiontide,
prayers by Eric Milner-White &
organ music by Philip Moore
| | |
|
This major publication offers a ruminative resource for prayer or reflection on Christ's death. It has a structure that is similar to the Stations of the Cross, used for many centuries.
The book contains a selection of deeply felt but restrained prayers. These are interspersed with 15 descriptive organ pieces, which act as musical responses to the words, and range from meditative to more dramatic, harrowing moods.
Together, the prayers and music combine to provide a beautifully fresh perspective on Lenten themes.
VIA CRUCIS could be used as a focus for meditation or a contemplation of spiritual issues.

The Risen Christ
Easter cantata with carols by Sir Philip Ledger
| | |
|
Sir Philip Ledger (1937–2012) was one of the most distinguished British musicians of his generation.
He was Director of Music at King’s College, Cambridge, Principal of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, and a world-respected accompanist, conductor, and composer.
| | |
|
THE RISEN CHRIST portrays three appearances of the risen Christ. The first is to Mary Magdalene at Christ's tomb, the second to Cleopas and another disciple on the road to Emmaus, and the third to Simon Peter at the Sea of Tiberias. On each of these occasions, he is at first unrecognised.
Words have been compiled from various sources including original texts by Philip Ledger, Robin Morrish, and Robert Woodings, plus extract from a poem by Olivia Ward Bush-Banks (1869–1944).
Ledger's engaging cantata with Easter carols is scored for soprano, tenor and baritone soli, SATB choir and either chamber ensemble (with organ), or orchestra (without organ), or organ.

Prayer by Gill Rogers (1934–2019)
We pray for a renewal of our faith and that, in all the tensions and confusion of this present time, we may continue to trust in your name, and find your love in strength and peace.
We pray that your Church may grow in faith, so that sharing Christ’s suffering and death, we may share in the glory of his resurrection.
