Here is the complete Oct. issue in PDF. Following is a sampling of articles in this month's publication:

International Journal of Research in Choral Singing - The Scientific Research Journal of ACDA. Patrick K. Freer, editor. Click here to see the current issue! Included:
  • Music, Community, and Justice for All: Factors Influencing Participation in Gay Men's Choruses, by Dustin S. Cates
  • From the abstract: The diverse landscape of choral music includes a wide range of ensembles representing various community, cultural, and sociological perspectives. One may assume that the impetus for participation in choral music is strictly musical. However, while inherently musical, choral ensembles and their stated missions also reflect and influence the social interactions and core values of their participants (Bell, 2008; Latimer, 2008; Turino, 2008). The purpose of this study was to investigate factors that influence participation in gay men’s choruses.

ChorTeach - Practical Teaching Ideas for Today's Music Educator. Terry Barham, editor. Click here for the summer 2020 issue! Included:

ACDA member Dr. Rebecca Lord has developed a living database of artists willing to make online guest appearances for choirs and music classesIt came online today! There are separate lists in the directory for conductors, composers, vocalists, instrumentalists, and music technology professionals. Included are biographical information, areas of expertise, willingness to make presentations and/or appear as interview guests, types of groups they will visit, contact information, and fee information (optional). It is an amazing list of diverse professionals offering to appear for high school classes, events, community and church choirs - about any choral situation. Visit the directory.

The Church Music Institute's (CMI) Sacred Music Library - a library of 20,000 choral titles searchable on 17 criteria, and 16,000 organ titles searchable by hymn tune - is one of the prinicipal benefits of CMI membership. Because of ACDA's partnership with CMI, ACDA members receive a $35 discount on CMI membership (reg. $75; ACDA members $40). To access the discount, sign in at and click on "My Offers" in the upper right of the screen.
