ACDA supports this powerful message from the CMA Foundation 100 percent!
INNOVATION

From Britain's The King's Singers:
We’re all trying to innovate to keep the world of choral music alive, and also to stay afloat! As such, we have our first online concert, live-streamed through IDAGIO’s Global Concert Hall, tomorrow (July 30) at 3:00 BST [7:00 a.m. CDT!]. The good news is that the hour-long concert is available for you to enjoy for 24 hours following the concert.
  • The ticket/information link is here, and it costs the princely sum of just €9.90 per ticket (under $12).
  • An interactive poll on their Facebook page, completed yesterday, allowed people to vote to help decide their encore ("Penny Lane," by the Beatles, arr. by Bob Chilcott).
  • After-concert feature: Coffee with the Singers.

This could be a great way to wake up tomorrow (and offers ideas for small ensemble performance virtually)!

REFLECTION

The first TCDA Virtual Conference exceeded all of our expectations. We presented over fifty clinics, roundtables, and reading sessions to over 1,300 attendees. Nearly 50 vendors and with approximately 125 employees engaged in the online platform. While we were concerned that reading sessions, in particular, would be a challenge in the virtual environment, we found that there were many things our members liked better about the virtual environment. Specifically, they enjoyed hearing their colleagues' recordings of the pieces rather than trying to sight-read them in a group.

We are still gathering feedback from our exhibitors, but as I visited the virtual exhibit booths I often observed attendees in the booth having personal interaction with the vendor. Our members also like that everything was recorded and is now accessible for several months. . . .

My favorite feedback from attendees so far has been, "For anyone who doesn't think virtual learning can be engaging and meaningful, you should be attending the TCDA Virtual Conference.

More than anything, teachers were able to see that instruction can happen in this environment. Certainly, there were challenges, but nothing insurmoutable. Click here for the full reflection.

Note: TCDA produces the biggest chapter conference in ACDA, as befits the size of the state.
RESEARCH UPDATE

Update: It has taken longer than expected for the expert researchers to complete testing and analyze the data from the preliminary tests of singers just completed. Your patience is appreciated as they coordinate the results and prepare for the release of data as soon as possible.
