Sandy Springs District 3 Newsletter
Dear Friends and Neighbors,

As I noted last week, I will be sworn in a District 3 City Councilman on  Tuesday, July 19th , and am looking forward to beginning my service as your councilman.
To reach me, please use my city email:  [email protected] .
This is the first installment of the periodic newsletters that we will send regarding news and information in Sandy Springs.  Here are some of the topics currently making news in our community:
Work continues on The Next 10 Plan, the city's new Comprehensive Plan that addresses important initiatives such as land-use planning and zoning, green space creation and future transportation initiatives.  Citizen volunteers are working with the city staff and council to create The Next 10 Plan and citizen groups will have numerous opportunities to review the plan prior to its implementation in 2017.  The next two public meetings are  Monday, July 18th and Wednesday, July 20th .  Both meetings are from  6-8 p.m.  at the Heritage Sandy Springs building on Blue Stone Rd. For more details, please visit  www.TheNext10.org
This week, the Sandy Springs Fire Department received a rating upgrade from 3 to 2, making it one of only 1,060 fire departments in the nation and 36 in Georgia to earn a 2 rating.  This upgrade is a direct reflection of the great work that Chief Keith Sanders and his team are doing in our city and could potentially mean lower insurance premiums for properties in Sandy Springs.

-Brandon Mill Rd. between West Spalding Dr. and Dunhill Ct. will be closed from Monday, July 11th - Saturday, July 16th, for gas pipeline work.  For information on this project, please contact Steve Baker with Colonial Pipeline at 678-762-2589.

-Mount Vernon Hwy. between Sandy Springs Circle and Roswell Rd. will be closed for several more months for road and utility work related to the City Springs project.

On Wednesday  evening,  September 21st , the city will hold a Traffic Forum to discuss Braves stadium traffic and other traffic-related issues that are facing our community. The meeting will be held at Riverwood High School.  Please mark your calendars and we will send you more specific information in future newsletters.

As always, if you have questions or wish to discuss matters involving your neighborhood or your city, please reach out to me at  [email protected] .

Thanks so much and I hope everyone has a great week.

-Chris
