ENGAGING THE CONGREGATION

Donations in gratitude and thanksgiving for the Ministry of

The Very Reverend Miguelina Howell

As a token of our gratitude for her twelve years of ministry among us, the Cathedral congregation will be presenting Dean Lina with a special gift. Many of you may remember that ten years ago, when Dean Lina was nominated by the Bishop Diocesan and then elected by Chapter to become our Cathedral Dean, the congregation presented her with a cope and liturgical stole—attire befitting a priest on festive occasions. To mark her transition to the episcopate, we would like to purchase a matching chasuble and miter, so that she may continue to use the cope and stole in her new role as Bishop Diocesan.

If you would like to contribute to this gift, you may do so by clicking here

Alternatively, you may also send your contribution to the Cathedral office or place it in the collection plate at a Sunday service.  Please make checks payable to Christ Church Cathedral.  Include the notation “Dean’s Farewell Gift” in the Memo line.

Would you like to support the CCC Children's Choir?

  • Contribute a (nut-free) snack for Wednesday rehearsals
  • Donate small fun prizes that our singers can earn for good participation
  • Spread the word about our program to families with children who might be interested!

The Second Sunday after the Epiphany

We are many members, yet one body in Christ. Somos muchos miembros, pero un solo cuerpo en Cristo.

We are Many Members, yet One Body.”

Today, the Second Sunday after Epiphany, our worship began with the 8:00 a.m. Holy Eucharist, with the Rev. Tracy Johnson-Russell, Rector of St. Monica’s Church in Hartford, CT, serving as principal celebrant and preacher. At the 10:00 a.m. Eucharist, presided over by our Dean, the Most Rev. Miguelina Howell, the Rev. Johnson-Russell again offered the sermon, exhorting us to unite prayer with action in our life of faith. Drawing inspiration from the witness of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., whose commemoration was highlighted by our faith community, she reminded us that despite rejection and misunderstanding, Dr. King persevered in his Gospel-centered struggle for justice and social inclusion—a legacy that remains a source of hope amid ongoing political polarization, violence, and hatred in our nation.

At 11:30 a.m., we shared a luncheon in honor of Dr. King, joined by neighbors who live on the streets, embodying our call to hospitality and solidarity.

At 12:30 p.m., we gathered for the Spanish-language Eucharist, presided over by the Cathedral’s Canon for Latino Ministry, the Rev. Ramón García. In his homily, he invited us to reflect on the spiritual process to which we are called: first, to fix our gaze on Christ, and second, to cultivate a living bond with the “Lamb of God” within the community of faith—nourished by Sacred Scripture and the Sacraments—so that we may fully live the grace of God’s forgiveness.

CHURCH BY THE POND

January 17, 2026

This was a snowy day in Hartford! Church by the Pond was able to find a little shelter from a steady snowfall that began while we were gathered. We got a little snowed on and had to pray above the sounds of snow removal but days like this make us appreciate the sunny days when we're surrounded by nature.
Father Patrick Bush was our celebrant this afternoon. He led fourteen of us in prayer and provided testimony on his decision to follow Jesus. We were told to consider our personal decisions. This was particularly fitting as a gentleman joined us today to offer scarves for those in need. He explained that he doesn't feel a calling to join a church but does feel a calling to follow Jesus. He did stay and pray with us today.
St. Andrew's Episcopal Church of Rocky Hill blessed our guests with a bounty! Guests received two or more bagged lunches, scarves, and goodie bags with personal care items. Fifteen people received these gifts.
