STEWARDSHIP FORMATION SERIES

Plenty Good Room Formation Series

This Stewardship season, the Stewardship Team and the Formation Team are collaborating to offer a four-session Bible study around the 2026 stewardship theme, “Plenty Good Room”. The sessions will take place Sunday mornings during the Formation period Sunday morning from 9:00–9:45 a.m. in the Childcare Room. The series will start October 25. The first session, “God’s Abundance”, will be led by Stewardship Committee chair, Anne Bartholomew.

STEWARDSHIP CAMPAIGN 2026

Christ Church Cathedral is a dynamic community which shows in all that we do to honor God in our lives. We have welcomed our new Chaplain/Vicar, The Rev. Melina Dezhibod, and continued with our outreach programs and our beautiful Saturday and Sunday services. And we do this all in a time of transition.

Our Stewardship Campaign will start on October 25th and end with Commitment Sunday on November 22nd. This is a time of prayer, reflection, and hope for our future. Over the next several weeks, you will receive information and opportunities to reflect and pray on your stewardship. Please consider making a pledge as we continue to do God’s work at Christ Church Cathedral and in the wider community.

God bless you,

Anne Bartholomew

NEW ELECTRONIC DOORS

This past Spring, one of our parishioners made a generous donation to the Cathedral with the request that it be used to make our buildings more accessible to people whose mobility is impaired. At about the same time, a participant in one of the “hopes and dreams for a new Dean” listening sessions spoke of the difficulty she encountered when trying to open the Cathedral’s heavy glass entry doors. Sometimes dreams do come true, especially when they are lifted aloft, and so it is my delight to introduce you to our new electronic door openers which is being demonstrated in the linked video by some of the Cathedral’s most mobile denizens. Enjoy. Harlon +

CHURCH BY THE POND

October 17, 2026

This afternoon there were thirty people gathered in Bushnell Park to join one another in prayer. We were blessed to be joined by clergy and laypeople from St. John’s Episcopal Church, West Hartford.

Today’s celebrant was The Rev. Todd Fitzgerald. The preacher was The Rev. Margie Baker. The calendar, national events, and the Gospel had us considering our government. Earlier today there were No Kings/Vote Early actions across the country. Rev. Margie’s reflection spoke of “give therefore to the emperor the things that are the emperor’s, and to God the things that are God’s.” We can give, to God, the gift of love that we received from Him. Our prayers included praying for a safe and fair election season and a reminder that early voting begins on Monday. One of our congregants prayed for President Trump so that he will be strong and do what’s right for our people. I was reminded of Bishop Budde’s national prayer service sermon following the Inauguration in 2025.

The congregants of St. John’s provided hearty lunches to thirty-nine guests following the service. While enjoying lunch people were encouraged to vote early at their early voting location, which can be found at Vote.org.

New Season of Creation

Daily Devotions

Most of us know very little about the great web of life that surrounds us. Through Oct. 4, the Province One EcoRegion will be offering daily devotions throughout the “Season of Creation” designed to open our eyes to some of the “created ones” with whom we share common ground. These devotions will highlight a different keystone species in our Province One EcoRegion each day, including a photo, a brief description, and thoughts on how the species reflects our image of God followed by a closing prayer. The devotions will be prepared by Episcopalians from around Province One.

Sign up to receive the devotions via the link below.

Camp Washington Community Dinner

On Saturday, November 14, CW will host a community dinner from 5 to 7:30 p.m.

Please join us at 5 p.m. for a service of beautiful music, inspiring words, and Holy Communion in the language of the Celtic Christian tradition, led by the Rev. Tuesday Rupp, and accompanied by Pete Miserendino on guitar, our friends from St Paul’s, Woodbury. Contemporary and contemplative, a beautiful offering to God.

Following worship, join us at 6:15 p.m. for dinner — a time of community, conversation, and wonderful food!

Come for worship and stay for dinner, or just come for dinner; your choice. All are welcome!

In lieu of a ticket price for dinner, we welcome your generous donation at the table. All proceeds will go the CW Campership Fund, offering need-based financial assistance to our campers and retreatants.

Gather your family, organize a parish carpool, or extend an invitation to a neighbor and make plans to join us at camp.

Registration is required; please click here to register.
