The Bible Project
Join Zoom Meeting ~ Sundays, 9:30 AM
(no passcode)

Join us this fall with an interactive journey to connect us with fellow parishioners and dig deeper into God’s Word. We will be using Bible Project to lead us in our study. As the people of Christ Church, we will read the entire New Testament over the course of two fall semesters. Click here for the readings and links.
There are three ways to engage:
1. Small group discussion on Sundays at 9:30 AM. We will begin in a Zoom format where we watch a short video on the Bible book being covered for the week then break out into small groups to discuss two questions.
2. Disciple track – read highlights of the Bible book covered on Sunday each day.
3. Scholar track – read the entire Bible book covered on Sunday over the course of the week.

Upcoming Volunteer Opportunities
We have several exciting volunteer opportunities coming up around the holidays! The next mobile food distribution is Saturday, December 19. We are also partnering with Montclair Elementary for their holiday class parties and an Angel Tree this month. For full details or to sign up, please click here.

Angel Tree with Montclair Elementary
Christ Church is partnering with Montclair Elementary again this year to support students in great need with gifts for Christmas. There will also be the opportunity to adopt teachers to provide them with a needed classroom item and a gift of appreciation for the work they do. Angels will be available soon on the Angel Tree in the Courtyard or by email. If you are interested in adopting an angel or a teacher, please email Honey with your request and preference and we will email you your angel as soon as it becomes available. Too busy or prefer not to shop? No problem! Donations are greatly appreciated via a check made out to Christ Church, clearly marked for the Angel Tree. Gifts will need to be dropped at the church by Tuesday, December 15.

Readers and Greeters for In-person Services Needed
If you are interested in reading or serving as a greeter for either the 8:00 AM or 10:30 AM in-person services, please click here.

Bridging the Gap
Due to Hurricane Sally and the flooding of the Washburn Center, our neighbors without homes are in great need of toiletries, including bars of soap, shampoo, deodorant, toothbrush, toothpaste, disposable razors, hand sanitizer, wash clothes, socks, and hand cream. Also, with cold weather here we are collecting blankets. Please click here for more information on how to help.

The Third Sunday of Advent – Joy — This coming Sunday we will light our third Advent candle – the rose-colored candle for Joy. As we continue our journey toward Bethlehem, we will read from our Jesus Storybook Bible “The Story of the Shepherds” from the gospel of Luke. We have insightful discussions and this past week we talked about the meaning of Peace. The children expressed the feeling that peace is an inner and outward environment of calmness. We also talked about conflict and the importance of getting along with others in a peaceful way – especially our siblings. Each week we will gradually unfold the story ending with our last Sunday, December 20, when we will have a hot cocoa party with treats. Please join us either in-church or as a Zoomer. Parents, please sign children up here (max 12 children).

For those who are with us on Zoom, Britton Lynn and Rudy will be with you to tell this story — these sessions begin at 9:30 AM. The meeting ID is 3205228708. Britton will let you in through the waiting room.

Reminder to parents: Please bring your children directly to the Parish Hall prior to the 10:30 church service. You will enter from the courtyard and breezeway and sign your children in at the Parish Hall door. You and your children will need to wear a mask and remember the guidelines for social distancing.
Peace and Grace to you during this Advent Season. This Order of Compline is brought to you from Christ Church Pensacola. Settle in where you are at this moment and make yourself quiet, light a candle if you like...and breathe. Compline can be done right where you are — it is typically done right before going to sleep. It can be done in your home, backyard, favorite outdoor space or church. You can be by yourself or with others. The Order of Compline we are using is found in the Book of Common Prayer on page 127. Deacon Rachel Iversen invites you to join her during this season of Advent to find rest in this nightly service of Compline. The YouTube link can be found here.
