Volunteers Needed!!
Thursday, February 25
~ 9:00 AM ~
Allen Chapel AME Church
We have been serving around 200 families each food distribution. Our next food distribution day will be Thursday, February 25, partnering with Allen Chapel AME Church and distributing food at 500 N. Guillemard StWe need volunteers to work a shift in the morning to either sort or distribute food. Volunteer duties range from directing traffic and filling out forms for families, to more labor-involved duties of sorting and distributing food. While it is outdoors and we take precautions like masks, please do not volunteer if you are at a high risk of infection or if you are not feeling well. Please email Honey Harris to volunteer.
Christ Church is starting the search for our new Director of Children and Family Ministries. The part-time position (20 hours) is salaried and includes retirement and other benefits. The start time is flexible, but we hope is to hire someone this spring or summer. Help us spread the word. You can see the job description here. Resumes with cover letters should be sent to traci@christ-church.net. Questions can be directed to Father Michael at michael@christ-church.net
Sunday, February 28 ~ 5:00 PM ~ at the Jerrems'
We will be having an outdoor Eucharist service, hosted by Mia & Warren Jerrems, for our families across the bridge in Gulf Breeze and Pensacola Beach on Sunday, January 17 at 5:00 PM with a conversation to follow. Please contact Rev. Katie for questions or more information.
The annual Christ Church game in support of Episcopal Relief & Development has its first “player” on the court: "Greatest Of All Time"! Although G.O.A.T. is alone, the Cows are expected to arrive very soon; it is still very early in the game so suit up and join the fun!

There are three easy ways to donate an animal for $80 (or any portion of an animal) — if you attend in-person church, you may use the pink “March Madness” envelope and form found in the pews; you may purchase online here (select "outreach" from the drop down menu on the giving page); or simply mail your check to Christ Church, 18 West Wright St., Pensacola, FL 32501. Please make your check out to Christ Church and be sure to indicate which animal (Cow or Goat) and its name.

Remember, purchasing an animal gives you naming rights. The cleverest, funniest names will be acknowledged by Father Michael at the end of the campaign, and the donors will receive prizes! Please email Honey Harris with your choice of animal and name given in order to be included in the naming competition!

In the past we have raised over $8,000 for Episcopal Relief and Development, providing animals and training to families in poverty so that they can be economically sustainable.  This year 30% of the funds we raise will also go to E.R.D.’s COVID-19 Relief Kits. If you have a question you may contact Honey Harris.
~ Sunday, February 28 ~
This past Sunday we learned about the season of Lent…a time that helps us get ready for Easter. The discussion centered on the meaning of fasting. The children gave insightful answers to how they could fast from being unkind to others, screen time, and some even agreed to fast from junk food! For the second Sunday in Lent, we will return to the stories about Jesus and hear the story “The Captain and the Storm” – Jesus calming the sea. Reminder to parents: mark your calendars for Sunday, March 14 when we will honor the memory of St. Patrick. Please sign children up here (max 20 children).

For those who are with us on Zoom, Britton Lynn and Rudy will be with you to tell this story — these sessions begin at 9:30 AM. The meeting ID is 3205228708. Britton will let you in through the waiting room.
Gulf Coast Kid’s House has a goal to educate 30,000 people through their free, online Know Child Abuse training. Child abuse and neglect has gone up by 58% in Escambia County since the start of Covid-19. The hope is to have members of every church in our community complete the training. The training takes less than 40 minutes and is a wonderful way to show your commitment to child safety in our community. Here is the link to the training which includes how to recognize, report and reduce/prevent child abuse and child trafficking in our community:

A River Through the Desert: A Lenten Pilgrimage
Ever wonder why there are so many mountains mentioned in the Bible? Mountains are common in the deserts of the Middle East and the mountaintop experiences of meetings with God excite and feed our faith. We will be learning about the physical and symbolic importance of mountains in this third week of our Lent study. Dick Hooper and David Starling facilitate this study at 9:00 AM on Sunday mornings through ZOOM. Join the class through the link available in the Saturday announcements. Please click here for more information.
Settle in where you are at this moment and make yourself quiet, light a candle if you like...and breathe. Compline can be done right where you are — it is typically done right before going to sleep. It can be done in your home, backyard, favorite outdoor space or church. You can be by yourself or with others. The Order of Compline we are using is found in the Book of Common Prayer on page 127. Deacon Rachel Iversen invites you to join her to find rest in this nightly service of Compline. The YouTube link can be found here.
Each week our worship service is enhanced with beautiful fresh flowers. The altar flowers are a memorial, a thanksgiving for an anniversary, a birthday, a new birth, or a thanksgiving for God's blessings. The donation is listed in the weekly bulletin. Forms to participate in this ministry are available here.
Christ Church is here for you. There are many ministries to love and support the people who are the church. We continue to support one another, especially during this pandemic. If you are interested in assisting with staying connected to our church family, please email Rev. Katie or call her at the Parish Office, 850-432-5115. It is easy to feel alone or disconnected right now, so reach out to one of the priests or someone at the church to say hello. Contact Rev. Katie if you or anyone you know has any needs. If you have a pastoral emergency, please call our pastoral care emergency line to speak directly with one of the priests: (850) 462-5137.
