FROM THE SENIOR WARDEN...
Oh there's power, power in love. Not just in its romantic forms, but any form, any shape of love.
There's a certain sense in which when you are loved, and you know it, when someone cares for you,
and you know it, when you love and you show it — it actually feels right.
Together, we are the body of Christ — transforming people from members into disciples,
moving more deeply into God's call to life and ministry, and extending our mission beyond the status quo.
From Coastline Newsletter, the DCGC blog/newsletter sent twice monthly.
Happy Fiesta, Christ Church! How could a View of the Dome not be inspired by the beautiful words of our Presiding Bishop Michael Curry this month? I can honestly say that I may be the only parishioner of CCP to have "missed" the early morning words delivered live, but the Heaney house was not devoid of many "ceremonial" replays throughout the week.
Whether you watched Bishop Curry, or otherwise received his message of love and fire, just imagine the impact it had across the world. Father Walt alluded to this impact in his 5.20.2018 sermon
(
https://christ church.net/sermons/
)
, and scores of you have mentioned it to family, friends and neighbors. I believe that our CCP family reflects the countless, world-wide family/community units that have shared Bishop Curry's message. What a great example of the impact our church can have on the world. Let's take a cue from Bishop Curry and show our love throughout CCP and our community…it definitely feels right!
31 wardens from churches in our Diocese gathered with Bishop Kendrick on May 12th. We enjoyed the quaint ambiance of St. Cyprian's whose Senior Warden, Chris Turnage, graciously volunteered to host the meeting. Bishop Kendrick used his gathering to update us on his vision of the crucial relationships that exist between Senior Wardens and their parish, their clergy and their Bishop. His staff (Dwight Babcock and Jenn Johnson) also shared important Diocesan information with us. As a first-time warden, I was encouraged by the open and honest discourse. I enjoyed meeting wardens from many other churches in our Diocese and it was amazing to realize that in some smaller churches, a Senior Warden can hold the position for an undetermined amount of time. 12 straight years was the term of the longest active Senior Warden in attendance…(Yikes!!) I encourage all of you to visit the Diocesan Website at
https://www.diocgc.org/
. There you will find resources and community building information meant to extend the support and mission of our Diocese "beyond the status quo".
You are all in my thoughts and prayers as we enter the Summer months. We may not have Sunday School and full breakfasts on Summer Sunday mornings, but please continue to visit CCP. Bring a guest, a visiting summer vacationer, a neighbor who you recently met. I will see you there.
Chris Heaney, Senior Warden

Sunday Centering Prayer Group —
Centering Prayer is a method of silent prayer that prepares us to receive the gift of contemplative prayer, in which we experience God's presence within us. We begin by taking a few minutes to go over the basic guidelines of the practice for anyone who is new. We then sit together in the 20-minute prayer period, followed by a brief time for sharing and intercessory prayer. All are welcome — newcomers and experienced practitioners.
This class meets in the Centering Prayer room on the administrative hallway. The facilitator is Joan White.

ALTAR FLOWER MEMORIALS
Each week our worship service is enhanced with beautiful fresh flowers. After the Sunday services, the altar flower arrangements are reworked into smaller arrangements. These arrangements are delivered to members of our parish family that are unable to attend a Sunday service. The altar flowers are a memorial, a thanksgiving for an anniversary, a birthday, a new birth, or a thanksgiving for God's blessings. The donation is listed in the weekly bulletin. Forms to participate in this ministry are available on the information table in the Parish Office.
