Don't miss Michael's sermon from this past   Sunday, July 12 .

The office is closed to foot traffic and much of the staff is working from home to limit in person contact. The best way to contact the office is to email a staff member or leave a message at (850) 432-5115.

If you are in a position to continue giving to God through Christ Church, please do so. You can mail in your pledge, Give Online , or text GIVE to (850) 403-6673.

***There will be no in-person services this week.
With the increasing rate of infection in our county,
our Worship Committee is going to reevaluate our practices and policies. Taking a week off gives them time to do that work.***

It is easy to feel alone or disconnected right now, so reach out to one of the priests or someone at the church to say hello.

Book Study – Wednesdays at 7 PM
with America's Original Sin
Meeting ID: 856 9805 3322; Password: 096580

Christ Church will be holding a series of book studies to continue the work of learning and growing in our ability to do the work of racial healing and dismantling racism. Reading the book is not required, rather it is encouraged for the discussion questions at the end of the teaching.
July 15 – Session Two: Repentance and Looking at Our Own Hearts ( Zoom link ) – Join Fr. Michael and Rev. Katie for a class based on chapters 4-7 that looks at what the next step is after naming the sin of racism, what repentance might look like, and the role of whiteness, white privilege, and implicit bias. If you have time, we recommend taking the Implicit Bias Test, especially on race:  https://implicit.harvard.edu/implicit/takeatest.html . The format will involve some time for discussion on these topics and is open to all, regardless if you have had the opportunity to read the assigned chapters.
Note: We will not have class on July 22. We will resume with Session Three on July 29.
Our next two food distribution days for the Mobile Food Pantry will be Friday, July 17 and Thursday, July 30. Please email Honey Harris if you are interested in volunteering. See below for more details and a list of other opportunities to serve.
During this time, there are ways to effectively and safely extend our hands in love to our neighbors in need. Each week, the Chronicle will provide upcoming opportunities and a list of other ways to be involved. If you are looking for ways to be involved, please email Rev. Katie or call 850-432-5115 or please consider these immediate needs of our community:

Mobile Food Pantry Food Distribution – Christ Church, Friday, July 17
We have been serving around 200 families each food distribution. Our next food distribution will be Friday, July 17. The following distribution date in July will be Thursday, July 30. We are in need of volunteers on both dates to work in the morning to either sort and/or distribute food. While it is outdoors and we take precautions like masks, please do not volunteer if you are at a high risk of infection or if you are not feeling well. Please email Honey Harris to volunteer.

Freedom School – At home, 8:30 AM, daily through July 24
The Central Gulf Coast CDF Freedom School opened on June 24 to promote literacy for the youth in our community from Montclair Elementary, Dixon School of the Arts, and Global Learning Academy. Thank you to the Rev. John Phillips and to Jennifer Adkins, board members, in helping to prepare the opening of the school. Join us throughout the month at 8:30 AM on Zoom for  Harambee! , a daily time of informal sharing when the community comes together to celebrate ( Harambee  is Swahili for “pull together” and reminder that we need one another). Join in any morning! Please contact Rev. Katie for the zoom link. And visit the  Facebook Page   to see pictures, videos, and prayers.

Masks for the VA Clinic – At home, anytime
The VA Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System is in great need of cloth face masks. If you are able to make masks (please see guidelines on our website: Mask Instructions ), please call or email Rev. Katie .

Links for Love – Anytime, For Children
Christ Church is collecting paper chain links that share messages of LOVE and HOPE to inspire the world. All links from around the world will be connected for a Guinness World Record, then distributed to senior centers and hospitals as a beautiful reminder that we are all “Linked By Love!” Specific instructions can be found here: Linked By Love . Send completed links to: Christ Church, c/o Jen Leahey, 18 W. Wright. St., Pensacola, FL 32501.
Sundays ~ 9:30 AM
The writer of Genesis tells us that humans are created in God's image and are called to live in a manner appropriate for such an image. "Uncovering Your Holy Calling" is the section of Rabbi Naomi Levy's book,  Einstein and the Rabbi , in which she seeks to help the reader respond to God's call. Her lessons are addressed in chapters 27-33 (pages 180-236). Dick Hooper and David Starling facilitate the discussion through a Zoom session at 9:30 AM on Sundays. See the church's Saturday email for the worship and class schedule link.   For more information or to get a book, please email David Starling or contact him by text/phone (850) 712-0977.
