I now know this was not sent at 3:00 pm as it was intended. I am so very sorry!! Please scroll down for many announcements. And if for any reason you did not get to church this morning, please join us for the 5:00pm service on the front steps of the church!

Dear Friends,

Tomorrow we begin Holy Week as we remember the last week of Jesus' life in story, ritual, music, prayer, food, water, silence and ultimately the great sound of celebration of love conquering all - even death. We have the opportunity to enter into the mystery of Christ’s passion, death, and resurrection through sacred liturgies that lead us through the cross to the joy of Easter.

While you likely have many responsibilities that fill your days, I urge you to make these services a priority whether in person or online. You just may find space and time for your heart to break wide open, your soul to be fed, and your life, transformed.

With my love and blessings

Emily

Love in Action: Reaching Our Neighbors

CARROT SUNDAY EASTER SUNDAY!

Next Carrot Sunday is April 5

Easter bunnies and carrots go together, so plan to bring your two-pound bags of carrots to church on Easter Sunday, April 5!  They will be delivered to San Mateo on the following Wednesday morning. Ask your friends and neighbors to contribute as a way of supporting our immigrant neighbors in great need. Away for Easter? Give $ for carrots online through Realm, choose outreach, with carrots in the memo.

Monthly Food Packing at San Mateo  Volunteer to help fill 300 bags of groceries for distribution to families in need through the San Mateo Episcopal Church in Hyattsville, MD food ministry. Our next trip will be Wed, April 8, we’ll meet in the CC parking lot, load the carrots, and carpool over together. Interested? Please let Margaret Broe FitzPatrick know if you are coming by the morning of Tuesday, April 7, at magbroefitz@aol.com.

Food Justice DMV assists our immigrant neighbors with essential food and supplies. Please donate infant formula (Similac, please) and diapers (any size, but mostly sizes 4 through 6) to help. You can leave them in the hallway across from the Outreach board. We will deliver them to Food Justice at least monthly.

Love in Action: Racial & Social Justice

Please join us for the

The Racial and Social Justice Ministry Book Club

Sunday, April 19th, following the 10:00 service

The Racial and Social Justice committee is excited to announce its selection for our 2026 Book Club: Dear Justyce by Nic Stone. In the stunning and hard-hitting sequel to the New York Times bestseller Dear Martin, incarcerated teen Quan writes letters to Justyce about his experiences in the American prison system.

Watch Nic Stone being interviewed by students about her inspiration for the story and the commonalities among the characters’ experiences.

The R&SJ Book club meets after the 10 am Sunday service in the Gathering Room on the lower level of the church. Childcare services and a light lunch for the children will be provided. Pick up a copy of this amazing book and join us in community and conversation.

All are welcome to join the Mercy Team

Support the vulnerable in the current political crisis and put your faith into action. To join the Mercy Team distribution list, contact Cynthia Mitchell at justice@ccpk.org or Thea Kayne at theakayne@gmail.com. This is the best way to find out about emerging needs and a variety of ways to get involved.

Care Pod 2: The Mercy Team's second “Care Pod” supports a family in our area who has been impacted by ICE detentions or deportations. We are working with blended family of 15, 8 children and 7 adults. The Diocesan Emergency Relief Fund made a grant of $2,000 for the family's needs, which will go primarily toward supplemental rent assistance for a limited period.

You can help. There is a continuing need for: Grocery Gift Cards (Safeway or Giant) and Diapers (sizes 4 & 7 - note size change). Please leave gift cards in the box on the Outreach table in the hallway off the back of the Sanctuary, and leave diapers in the hallway across from the Outreach table.

Save the Date! Rebuilding Together – April 25

Lenten Book Study, Monday Evenings in Lent

Our individual relationships with Jesus are deeply personal connections. The book The Last Week: What the Gospels Really Teach About Jesus's Final Days in Jerusalem, by Marcus J. Borg and John Dominic Crossan, invites us to reflect on the events that took place the week of Jesus' crucifixion. Reading in community provides an opportunity to deepen your relationship and journey with Christ through this Lenten season.

This Monday March 30, we'll gather on Zoom (password = 20895) from 7 - 8:15 p.m. for our last meeting to discuss Chapters 7 & 8 of The Last Week.

A few copies of the book are available in the library; it is also easily available as an eBook online. All are welcome! Reach out to Lee Puricelli (leepuricelli@yahoo.com) or the Rev. Hope Christensen (hope@ccpk.org) with any questions.

Lenten Series concludes this Sunday, 3/29:

Conversations about the Nature and Experience of Grief & Loss

Led by John Ward, join us in Lent to discuss the journey of grief, which impacts mind, body and spirit. We meet after the 10:00 a.m. service in the Gathering Room. Join for this final session, even if you didn't attend the previous sessions. Questions? Contact John Ward.

Thursday Prayers for Peace at 12:15pm

Now more than ever, we are called to work and pray for peace around the world and in our own country.

Join our weekly Prayers for Peace during Lent (and every week). We ask God’s help for those working to end violence and conflict in an ever more turbulent world, and seek God’s mercy for civilians, soldiers, first responders, relief agencies, clergy, and all others who find themselves in harm’s way. We meet on Zoom at 12:15 (password = 20895), approximately 15 minutes. All are welcome.
