Our Children's Ministry invites interested adult parishioners to join a small cohort of learners to gather and learn about sharing their love of Jesus with our youngest siblings in Christ--children in PreK3 through Grade 6.

Classes begin at 9:30 a.m. in our lower level classrooms and end at 10:15, at which time children transition to Children's Chapel in the Parish Hall. Faith Formation volunteers are then able to join worship in the sancutary, and are always welcome at Children's Chapel as well.

Fall Forum Series on Civic Discipleship, September 22-October 26

Co-presented by Faith & Spiritual Growth and Racial & Social Justice

Over the course of six Sundays in the autumn, beginning September 22, we will discuss The False White Gospel by Jim Wallis. (One copy of the book is still available in the church library.) Wallis examines six iconic Biblical texts, which will anchor our conversations.

The series will focus on the concept of civic discipleship. What do we as followers of Jesus stand FOR? (and not just stand against). Our conversations will not be about the political left or right; they will focus on the depth of the Biblical texts we'll reflect on together, and the guidance contained within them for our shared civic life.

Discussions will take place on Sundays (9/22-10/26) from 11:30-12:30. Childcare provided for those who need it. Please note that the series will be in person, with a Zoom link available for those wishing to join online.

Want to learn more about Civic Discipleship in advance of the forum? Read more here. Want to learn more about author Jim Wallis and the book we will be using to guide our discussion? Watch a short video here.

We look forward to you joining us in this important discussion! Questions? Send an email to justice@ccpk.org or grow@ccpk.org.

The Vestry met in person in June, did not have a meeting in July, and held a Zoom meeting in August. Continuing our new tradition each meeting began with a personal reflection from a Vestry member. In June, Cynthia Mitchell shared a reflection on Freedom and Independence, and in August, Claudia Deane reflected on her Faith Journey.

During both the June and August meetings, we focused on our 2025 Stewardship campaign. The Vestry has chosen "Courageous Discipleship" as the theme for this year’s campaign and has set the goal of receiving 130 pledges totaling $447,000, reflecting a 3% increase over the 2024 results. Courageous Discipleship is our Diocese’s theme for 2024, and we agreed it was a fitting theme for this year’s campaign because the times we live in call for courage and we are committed to following Jesus. This theme is also a reminder that throughout the Bible God commands us to fear not, to be of good cheer, and to have courage in our lives; furthermore, a true disciple is not just a student or learner, but a follower who joins in caring for others and healing our world. In the context of our stewardship campaign, Courageous Discipleship is about being grateful and generously sharing all that we have.

Other business covered in June & August:

• Property: Pete Marks reviewed options for addressing the heating

issues in the Parish Hall and adjoining spaces on the lower level. The property team is working to ensure all repairs and maintenance are completed before the cold weather returns.

• Budget & Finance: Bonnie Douglas and Chris Ours reported that Pledge &

Plate giving bounced back after a slow spring, and expenses are slightly higher than expected due to the Memorial Garden project. Overall, we expect to end the year on budget.
