Stewardship 2021

By now, you should have received your stewardship packet in the mail. If you have not, and would like one, please let the office know by sending an email to or calling 301-942-4673.

This year’s Annual Giving theme, Doing What Love Requires, reminds us that our financial support, in the form of a pledge to the Operating Budget of Christ Church, is an essential component of our ability to carry out the work of the church. Whether we gather for worship inside our building or online, we continue to be the body of Christ through our ministries, our witness, and our care for one another.

2021 Pledge update, week 1:
Total pledges received = 16
Total amount pledged = $87,780
Goal = $427,000

As you prayerfully consider your pledge for 2021, we invite you to watch this video for a message from Vestry member Lee Puricelli.
Children’s Chapel and EpiscoPals Lesson
Sunday, October 25th
Live on Zoom at 9:30 a.m.
In the Godly Play telling of the Exodus, we will learn that God was with the People as they “went out” from slavery into freedom through the water. This is a powerful story to draw upon throughout our lives—whenever we might wonder about God’s presence at a particular time or in a particular place, whenever we might wonder about how to move forward. Children need this story to name, express and value their own experiences of God’s presence…and the invitation to talk about them. In our EpisoPals lesson, we will explore Baptism and wonder about God’s presence with us in the sacrament. Please email Ann Enkiri if you would like the password protected Zoom link for yourself or to share with friends.

A New Way to Celebrate All Saints' Day

On the Feast of All Saints, we celebrate saints past, present and yet to come. This year in addition to remembering the departed in our prayers on All Saints, we invite you to commemorate your deceased loved ones on a prayer flag, which we will hang outdoors in front of the church. This will provide us with a collective representation of our own sainted souls in our outdoor sacred space.  Christ Church staff members are happy to prayerfully inscribe the names of your loved ones on prayer flags. We also invite you to stop by and make your own prayer flags, using supplies that will be available outside the front office entrance to the church (the first set of double doors).

Please email prayer flag requests with the names of your loved ones to Jen Luna ( by Friday, October 30thIf you wish to make your own prayer flag(s), the box of supplies will be available outside the church office anytime from Sunday, October 25th through Saturday, October 31 st. The All Saints' Day Prayer Flag supplies will also be available during the Blessing Bag distribution times next week, as we prepare for our All Saints' Day Holy Eucharist on Sunday, November 1st.
Digital Ministry
Even before the pandemic, we needed to expand our presence on the internet and various platforms to extend our reach to the community. We are looking for people interested in serving on this working team, which will help with livestreaming of services from the sanctuary, communicating on various platforms and making sure we are telling our story and that of the Way of Love creatively and consistently. Experience on FB, Instagram, TikTok (dancing only) or A/V savvy exceedingly helpful. Curiosity peaked? Contact vestry member Mark Kelly or the Rector,

Our Virtual Vergers have been absolutely fantastic, so we know that you are out there! Special thanks to Virtual Vergers Bill Davies, Tom Tatem, Hill Carter and Hope Christensen.
Virtual Flower Dedications

This week's flowers are given to the glory of God, giver of all.

If you would like to make a virtual flower offering please send an email to or call the office - voicemail is being checked!

Teach us to create altars in our homes and in our world,
and to see them in acts of compassion and in the beauty of creation,
that we will know that you are indeed present everywhere. Amen.
