Dear Families and Friends of Christ Episcopal Church Dallas:
"Walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him: ...being strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy.
”
Colossians 1:10-11 (ESV)
Patience and endurance for us Christians comes only from God. In these days of COVID-19 as we discover how much this pandemic continues flagellating our country, city and church community with 130,000 people who have died and 40,000 new positive cases daily, it is possible that feelings of distress try to get the best of us. By now, most all of us know of someone who has or has had COVID-19. Then on top of this disease, we add the recent protests for racial inequality, the divided political spectrum for the upcoming presidential election, and the negative effects of the world economy, our feelings seem confirmed. There is a deep sense of sadness and loss, an illness both physical and spiritual that can overwhelm us, and it may even appear as though the world is entering a point of no return.
I invite you to remember that when God created the world, He made everything with a purpose and “it was good” (
Genesis 1
). And I especially remind you that God created human beings as the concluding act of the whole story of creation. In moments of darkness and adversities, it is important to remember that all of creation depends and receives their being only from God. Even with the current obstacles and unfortunate circumstances in our society, God continues providing, guiding, supporting, and moving His creation to the place He knows is better.
One of the great downfalls of society is our lack of obedience and our complacency with sin causing God our Creator to be more and more unknown to us. People have replaced God by trusting in their own efforts, in science, in money, or in any other power that gives them what they want rather than trusting in God.
Each event in our life is an opportunity to experience and recognize how God continues caring for His creation. In this context, I invite you to consider: Where is God around you? What are the blessings from the creation you are receiving and enjoying from God? How are you answering or responding to God?
As Christians it is clear to see that God has other plans far beyond the imperfections visible during this stressful time of pandemic. He cares for all in a way that continues being incomprehensible because we want to see, hear, or have control of something that is far above our human capacities. As we keep walking with Jesus in our journey of life, we like the Colossians, need to pray to receive great endurance and patience, to live as part of the creation, trusting and knowing that
God is always in control.
Blessings to All,
Fr. Fabian

Padre Fabian

Christ Church Vestry News
Due to Father's Day, the Vestry rescheduled their monthly meeting to Sunday, June 28th. Our Clergy and Vestry are continuously working hard and meeting via Zoom to protect all Christ Church parish members and to keep our church a healthy place.
With COVID-19 cases in Dallas County and in the State of Texas escalating to the highest counts since testing began back in the month of March, the decision was made to resume exclusively to our Virtual Sunday Worship. We will have Holy Communion Distribution (Pick-up) on Sundays from 9:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
Please remember to practice Social Distancing, and be informed that it is now mandatory statewide for everyone (minor exceptions) to wear face covering to protect their self as well as those around them. More information on the coronavirus pandemic may be found by clicking
