Our first Wine Tasting Event since COVID was held Saturday, October 14, 2023 at the Parish Hall. Parishioners and Friends had a great time!

Report on our October 14 Wine Tasting

Dear Parishioners,

I want to say Thank You to all who attended the Wine & More event, and my committee who helped organize it.

The weather didn’t cooperate, but we had a nice turnout. Ed Zipf provided the food and displayed it marvelously. We raffled off quite an array of baskets, various gift certificates, and a 50’50. The person who won graciously donated it back to the church and was not a member of the church.

I also want to thank those parishioners who couldn’t attend this event but donated by buying tickets. Between pre-sold tickets, tickets sold at the door, and raffle tickets, we raised $2,375.00, which will help with church costs.

If we have parishioner interest, I hope in the future we can have more different kinds of “fun” fundraising events.

Your Vestry Member,

Diane McKeefery

Operation Bear Hug

Operation Bear Hug is back for its second year! We, as parishioners, collect new teddy bears to go to people who need some extra love during the Holidays. Ask your family and friends if they would like to donate a bear to this worthy cause.

Amazon is a great place to order one or more bears!

The “Bear Box” will be outside the sanctuary.

Date of Event: Sunday, December 17, 2023

Times: Somers Place Assisted Living   1:00

United Methodist Communities at the Shore, Ocean City  2:00

               Homebound parishioners – Times TBD

Sign-up sheets will be posted on the bulletin board at the outside of the sanctuary.

Please call Nancy Austin at 215-499-9251 or email at noaustin58@gmail.com for any questions you might have.

  Stewardship Campaign

The following is some factual information and goal projections that we can achieve to have a successful campaign.

Our projected budget at Christ Church is set at $132,000 for the coming 2024 year.

We currently have 138 families on our parish mailing list, here is the detail for them:

·        38 families pledged for a total of $72,000

·        5 families pledged through the online application

·        Our average attendance is 70 per Sunday

Can we increase our pledging families to 50?

Can we increase our online giving to 15-20?

Stewardship Committee: Bill Snyder, Diane McKeefery, Donna Melle

Photo above, the Brotherhood of Saint Andrew meeting in the parish hall on Thursday, October 19, with Father Justin leading a Bible study. The Brotherhood meets the third Thursday of every month from 6pm to 7:30pm. They organize our Christmas Giving Tree; Pet Food distribution for poor families; schedule Red Cross Blood Drives; provide scholarships for youth of our parish; provide breakfast the last Sunday of the month for the parish after the 10am Service; and provide us with our Shrove Tuesday Pancake Suppers before Lent.

We were happy to welcome our bishop on Tuesday, October 3, as our parish hosted Meet the Bishop for the Atlantic Convocation. Photo above is from left, Mother Caroline Carson, dean of the Atlantic Convocation, Bishop Sally French, and Father Justin.

Connecting with our Diocese!

We had a wonderful visit from the Dean of our Cathedral on Sunday, September 24. Dean Rene John and his wife Andrea met with our Sunday School and Youth Group as well as talked with our parishioners during coffee hour. Dean John gave an inspiring sermon on discipleship and educated the parish about the importance of our Cathedral and being part of the Diocese of New Jersey in living our Christian discipleship!

Trial 8am Sunday Service
Beginning Sunday September 10 to All Saints Sunday, November 5, we will offer an 8am Service as a trial period, at the request of the vestry, to see if it will be a help in bringing in new people to the parish.

Thursday, November 2- All Souls' Day, Holy Eucharist at 10:30am
